One English Budgerigar :)
I turn my back for a minute only to find my 2-month old budgie Voxel taking a head first dunk into my mug of tea. I managed to grab him (his tail, ugh.) before his head was submerged in my drink. But he obviously took a big gulp--his face is all brown and sticky. He sneezed a bunch afterwards, but the goof looks insanely proud of himself.

He seems okay but the tea in question is black, full of cream, sugar, caffeine-- and I know that its bad for him (as it is for me!)

Is this going to make him sick? Is he now caffeinated and will forever be looking for a fix? What should I be watching for if there is a chance of caffeine inhaled/drinking sickness?

Totally a first-time parrot owner here, I feel like a nervous mom!

I would keep an eye on him and if he starts acting like he is sick or in pain I would take him to a vet, but he should be fine.

I'm pretty sure most parrots have gotten a taste of coffee, tea, soda at some point in their lives. The previous owners of my OWA used to regularly (like daily) give her coffee, soda and beer and she will be 30 years old in a few months. She was ill when I got her, but some good vet care and some medication and love and now she is fine.
