Hey all, was just thinking since I barely visit any other forum... / (only 'thestudentroom') if any of you have any tattoos and if you would post a picture of them. I'm considering getting another one but I've still got a lot to decide on yet and other things financially take priority!

So, whats your thoughts on tattoos (play nice guys ;)) and if you have any, post your pics! :)

I could never get a tattoo, what about when your older and get flabby, then your tattoo gets flabby too. Of cource then you could make it dance. Haha.

Haha! Fair enough reasoning, mines on my rib cage and I don't really think they get all that flabby unless you put on a load of weight and then lose it super fast again. Either way, mine mean an awful lot to me anyway so I won't care that it doesn't look as good when its flabby ;)

Thats mine, just under my left breast. It means 'goodnight' in Polish, a tribute to my g'pa who passed away.

Also got a scar just above the 'd', I ran into barbed wire when I was younger and I twisted when it was still in me and made a huuuge gash there and I had to actually yank the wire out, it was gross, but the scars getting smaller each year. :D

That's a good reason to get one. My cousin has a cross with wings on it with an eyeball in the middle to signify when he got shot in the eye with a bb gun. It has the date it happened too. He is totally blind in that eye now.

Eeek, what fool did that?!
I like the idea behind it though, kinda nice to have the life changing memory put on him forever in a cool way.

I wanna get the 'hakuna matata' symbol on the back of my neck and I want some birds silhouettes flying up and around my back. I'm a very birdy person (go figure ;)) and it represents so much to me, mainly; the craving to be free of my chronic illness and just fly free like those birds.
Alongside the hakuna matata, Lion King (and disney) taught me a lot of morals growing up, particularly 'no worries' and 'the past hurts but you can learn from it so you dont get hit by the same stick twice' :p

He was at a party and some kids decided to do a drive by a shot everybody up, he just happened to get hit in the eye.

I'd love to get a tattoo of a bird wing on my shoulder. The flights would be blue and the rest would be green and underneath would be Con's name is pretty script. I'd like to add a new one for each bird that I get. I think it'd be a great way to pay homage to them :) Just gotta get up the courage to get the tattoo now lol

oh my gosh! i may get some pics later when i have some time, but LOVE tattoos!
-Jack skellington on my ankle a tribute to my childhood and innocence.
-A rubber duck on my foot (lucky duck)
-a rose tramp stamp in memory of my mom who died when i was 15
-a rose on my shoulder with a neat design cause i could. my 1st tattoo.
- a bat on the back of my neck. me and my husband wanted matching tattoos but want it to be something regretable in the event we didnt work out.
AND i will be scheduling soon for a cartoonie pitbull with angel wings on my other foot.
think thats it :)

I'm in the category of not liking tattoos. Don't have one, won't ever have one. I probably won't be around anymore to see those of your generation in the old folks home covered in old tattoos:D But, I suppose if you all have them they won't look so odd anyway. If the generations that come after you don't get into it they might be laughing at y'all behind your backs though (or in front of you if they think you are too deaf or senile to know).

No, I don't hate people with tattoos. It's your body to make your own choices with.

Here are a couple of mine that I have pics of, I also plan on getting a new one soon, it's from the beatles song blackbird, I want it to say "Take These Broken Wings and Learn To Fly" and then have a black bird, I plan to do it on my upper back, across my shoulder blades, just haven't gotten around to draw it up yet.

My vegan rib piece:

And yes, all of my tattoos were done with vegan ink and vaseline instead of A&D oinment :)

I do have to say both you ladies have some very classy looking ones.

I didn't even know there was vegan ink. What is the regular ink made of? An animal product? I had no idea.

Thank you, and yes, tattoo ink is made up of two things, pigment and glycerin. Glycerin can be animal or plant derived and a lot of black pigments actually use bone char to color the ink. A&D ointment is also normally used while tattooing and that contains lanolin and fish oil. I spent about 8 months researching inks before I finally found a few that are vegan friendly. I know it seems extreme but it seemed really obnoxious to get a tattoo that says "vegan" and another one for animal liberation that actually contains animal products lol.

Wow, that's really interesting. I never would have thought about ink possibly containing animal products. I applaud your vegan lifestyle because I know how hard that must be to maintain. I admit not only am I not vegan, I'm not a vegetarian either. And have the misfortune now to have a digestive disease where meat is one of the few things I can eat. I eat more now than I ever have because of it. I can't eat vegetables or fruit and if I eat just grains my blood sugar gets very messed up :-(

i had no idea what was in the ink. lol very interesting.
I was actually thinking of adulthood with all of my tattoos, so if im in a short sleeve shirt and tennis shoes my tats are my secret :)
I never wanted to be that mom at the bake sale with tattoos everywhere. I would not want to embarrass my children with my choices.
And while i think what i do to my body is my buisness and no one elses i do live for my kids and always will :)

Awesome tattoos everybody ! IcyWolf , those are very cool tats .
I have one of my horse on my left shoulder blade. I got that done when I had to put my horse down , I had her as a 4 yr old and lost her when she was 24 yrs old. She was truly my heart and soul.
And , I designed a dolphin tat myself from a piece of nautical jewelry and now every 18 year old has the same one , lolol. I put it across my lower back because i wanted it big . I feel the bigger the better it looks , but that's just me :)
Dolphins "live in the moment", they are free spirited , playful animals. I also swam with them soon after I lost my Dad , and that experience made me enjoy life again and I wanted to remember it always. My Dad was a fisherman and I grew up on the water, so hence the nautical stuff. I also would like to get another one , but my second husband isnt too keen on them , lolol.

Oops , I forgot to say I need to get pictures of my tats , then I'll post them :)

I have one small tattoo on my upper right arm. It's my younger brother's birthday. He and I are very close and he was always my right hand man as children, hence why it's on my right arm. Unfortunately it's almost always covered by a shirt sleeve so I don't have a lot of pictures of it. My mother HATES it. She calls it my "Nazi Numbers". After I had it done she didn't speak to me for a week (not that that's a bad thing... she is very opinionated, close minded and there is no arguing with her about anything EVER) She always told me I'd be kicked out of the house if I got a tattoo... so the day after my high school graduation I got this done. I've now had it for 5 years and I'm still living at home being the poor college kid that I am. I'm afraid to get another one and chance it again. My father saw it an hour after it was done asked me "what's that black spot on your arm?" I showed it to him and he goes "You know I don't mind tattoos and at least you were smart about it and it's in a spot that can be covered if need be. Don't show your mother."

This is from my best friend's wedding last February and shows just how tiny it really is. Of course my boyfriend and I aren't making very, erm, nice faces. Yes, that's gum hanging from his mouth.

I would love to have more tattoos. This time something bigger, but still able to be covered if I need it. My mother has a very religious family (she herself isn't religious, but she does show the same tendencies as her family members) so I'd need to be able to cover it. I do love my family, especially my older relatives and wouldn't wish to 'offend' them.

I have this strong desire to have "Der Wahnsinn ist nur eine schmale Brücke. Die Ufer sind Vernunft und Trieb" (Insanity is only a narrow bridge. The banks are reason and desire.) tattooed across my back. It's from a Rammstein song. I can understand spoken German and read German. If you ask me to speak and form coherent sentences I'm stuck. I have no clue why I struggle to speak the language. But, anyways, I like the lyric because I feel as though it applies to everybody. I'd also like to have a black cat tattooed somewhere on me. I've always had a black cat in my life. Currently I've got two. As a child I had 2 who were sisters. They were Pixie and Dixie. Now I have Mister Finck (Fincky) and Incubus (Inky... no, not after the band) Pixie, Dixie, Fincky, Inky. I think I've got issues.
If I could find the perfect artist to do a tattoo of Inky wearing his hat and scarf I totally would show it off with pride. Look at that face. It's a classic! He takes the best pictures.

That's a great idea... As dementia sets in you can use it for your pin number... lol

I have one on the bottom of my back :) It was a very spontaneous thing I had done while I was on holday about 6 years ago:)

Here is a pic of it....
