I just want to get a couple of ideas from other parronts...
I know there are different ways of training a parrot from treats to clickers etc.
I have been told before that I should take a blanket or towel (if the bird bites) and pick up the bird and hold it for about 45 minutes to an hour and talk to it to help tame it.

What are some of the methods you guys have used and what has worked well for you?

no, toweling is the fastest way to make the parrot terrified of you.

Read through this http://www.parrotforums.com/general-parrot-information/49144-tips-bonding-building-trust.html read through that until your eyes hurt then continue reading it. I know myself and many others here have used this method and have found success. The simplest advice to give is go at their pace, if they don't like you sat next to the cage and get scared then sit across the room and move closer as they calm down. It's arguably the hardest/most frustrating part of parrot ownership but once you break the wall down then the fun part begins

What a bad idea. No toweling please. Time , time, patience, treats, and more time. Thats how you tame birds.
