Bumble - Pacific (or Celestial) Parrotlet hatched 02/19/17
The great thing about potty training Bumble is that since she poops on a slick white surface, I get a good look at her droppings. For the last couple of days, I've noticed that the poop part looks normal it a lot of liquid comes out, so I'm taking her in this afternoon. Our regular CAV is booked, but the clinic has an "urgent care." The clinic sees all manner of exotic pets, so at the moment I don't know who she will be seeing or what their qualifications are, but since they have a number of bird specialists on staff I feel okay about it.

I'm hoping it's because she's had a lot of fruit and she sits on my hand and drinks from/bathes in the tap every night. But I'd rather take her in and be "that parront" than wish I had.

Good on ya for being a concern parront. But yes, eating a lot of fruits, especially the watery ones, can make the poops look watery.

Vet visit went well. Of course her poop looks totally normal today, but I showed a picture of what I was seeing last night which was normal poop but lots of liquid. They did an external physical exam and everything looks perfect. The took a fecal sample and said the direct exam looks perfectly normal, the cytology had a little more bacteria than might be normal, but that's also subjective based on the way they smear the slide - she said she didn't think it was enough to warrant an antibiotic. They offered to do a CBC but said that she didn't really think it was necessary. The extra liquid COULD be polyuria but could also be caused by lots of water and bathing and fruit, and possibly the stress of her first molt. This wasn't our usual CAV but she did check in with her and she agreed with everything.

They said to just keep an eye on her, if it continues after her molt or if anything at all changes to let them know.

Also got kudos on her great, varied diet (thanks all of you who have shared recipes!) and on how well socialized she is.

Happy to hear bumble is generally in good shape :) Giving antibiotics is no fun  BB is going to hate me when all of this is over with. :(

Ahem, I would assume one of those is my recipe? ;) I haven't made my guys birdie bread in ages. It's a pain with the different flours. I have to go to at least two different stores to get the ingredients, and it's a pain.

I find Noah has different poops, depending on the day. Often, his poops are quite watery when I first take him out, but start firming up. Sometimes it just squirts out (not diarrhea, just a TON of urine). It's a pain when it's that watery, since it gets everywhere. I kind of wonder if the firmness of his poops somehow relates to how much attention I've given him? I know it sounds strange, but considering how his poops tend to firm up the longer I hold him (it could be from digestion or something, I don't know).

Nope, the recipe I took the most from was itzjbean [emoji846] But I'm open to more! Where's your recipe. The birdie bread recipes I've seen make SO MUCH and while parrotlets are little piggies, she still only one small bird...and I'm running out of freezer space!

Her poop has been pretty normal ever since last week. Who knows what caused it. I did give her cherries (no pits) for the first time, so maybe that was extra water. Silly bird.

No wonder you didn't see my recipe! It was buried under a bunch of other posts! Here: http://www.parrotforums.com/parrot-food-recipes-diet/63942-most-nutritious-birdie-bread.html

You don't have to use berries for it. I haven't actually been using the berries. You'll want to cut the recipe in half. My birds love it, so I guess I did a good job. I can't use sweet potato anymore because it causes a few of my budgies to vomit. You can also use organic chicken eggs instead of flax eggs to boost the choline content.

This birdie bread is really nutritious, and it's great when you're busy, or if you're going to be home late and you're worrying about food spoiling.

Thanks! I'll give it a whirl. Is there a reason everything has to be ground/puréed? I wonder if leaving some of it in bigger chunks would give it a nice texture, and I don't need to trick Bumble into eating her fruits/veggies.

The reason I puréed everything is because certain little birds like to pick and choose what they want to eat. Personally, I'd purée two thirds of the fruits, veggies, nuts, and seeds, then leave a third not puréed for texture.

It's definitely a pain in the butt to make this birdie bread, but it's worth it, knowing they're getting most of their nutritional requirements met.

Oh, have you tried the Totally Organic Pellets or the Golden'obles III with her yet?

No, I started with Harrison's which the vet thinks might be a bit high in calories. I didn't think Bumble was eating it, so I got some of the (don't judge) Zupreem fruity pebbles. Turns out she prefers the Harrison's but for now I'm mixing them. CAV sells Zupreem and says it's fine so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I may try the ones you've recommended next to see what she likes best. She also gets a small serving of Volkman's parrotlet seed. Of course, not a smidgen of that ever goes to waste! I also sprout it and a mix of beans for her.
