- Female Dusky Conure (Kayak) Female Sun Conure (Carlisle) Female Budgie (Meister) Male Budgie (Spooky Burd)
A few months ago my ex boyfriend's dad adopted a cockatoo. When they went to go get the bird they saw that Sydney (the cockatoo) and 2 African Greys were locked in a basement and had been down there for many, many months with only each other for company. Sydney was a plucker and over-preener. Since they've had him they've changed his diet over from the crappy seed he was being fed to pellets and fresh foods, given him a new cage full of new toys, and introduced him to the sun again. (He lives in the family room next to 2 big windows to look out of instead of the dark basement he lived in before) I'm not sure what the reasoning was behind keeping those birds in the basement. It makes me sad to think about it. When they first got him Sydney would hide from everybody and shake like a leaf. Now he's got new feathers starting to come in and he LOVES to hang out with my ex and snuggle with him. Sydney doesn't care for me all that much which is fine by me. Big beaks and big feet freak me out when it comes to birds. I'll stick with my conures and just watch Sydney when he's in his cage.
Snuggle buddy!

He will spend hours happily making his swing move back and forth. It's funny to watch him get it moving and then he sits on it making the happiest little noises.
