Real Men Only Grill!!! :D So, on a hot grill with the cover closed and the Sweet Potato wrapped in foil its 30 to 45 minutes. Smaller size on the shorter end, bigger size on the longer end. Remember to use a fork to puncher the outer peel, at least five to seven times or more if your got a really big one. Turn every ten to fifteen minutes!

Microwave oven: On high, 5 minutes and then turn and run for another five minutes. If you forget to puncher the peel with the fork, you will be cleaning the oven! So, remember to puncher the peel (see above). Do Not Wrap a potato that will be Microwaved!

Note: Do Not Buy a Green (New) Potato! Ask, when you buy! This time of the year, both last years and this year are available. New Potato will take as much as twice as long to cook!

FYI: Clean the outer cover to remove any dirt.

There is a reason that the Mrs' sends me out to the Grill and out of her kitchen! :D

FYI: Baked Potato is common on this side of the pond.

Either way. BB and Amy will let you know how to proceed for future reference. My flock likes it mashed with a little coconut oil, cinnamon or pineapple juice. They also like it plain cut in chunks.

Let us know how they liked it.

And you aint standin' in the cold and wet I don't expect? :)

For our Macaw I cut them in chunks. My Amazon won't touch them.
I have microwaved but I prefer to bake or steam them. I bought an electric pressure cooker a few months back and it has been a huge help in cooking for my birds. I actually just steamed a sweet potato and peas for Tesla this morning.

This thread just reminded of this

Heavens' No! I'm a spoiled American! :D In the Great White North, we have a 'Grilling Porch', which is covered and screen-in, so I can grill in the middle of a Winter's snow storm or a Summer's down pour!

Fairly straight forward, basic covered porch with a vent built into the roof!

I never get really carried away for Nacho Birdy's veggies. In fact I just made a video to show the whole process and it's just over a minute long, hahah. He didn't eat much since I did this at night, but in the morning he's really good about chowing down on his veggies. As you can see at the start of the vid I keep a variety of bird veggies ready to go. He loves parsnips and sweet potatoes best but also does well with the jalapeños or serranos, green beans, zucchini and peas. Probably a bunch of other stuff too when I give him another go round with them.

I microwave them! The average sized sweet potato or yam needs around 7 to 9 minutes depending on wattage of the unit. If overcooked they will appear shriveled on the outside, dry inside. Better to undercook at first, then cut in half the long way and nuke some more.

Mine like them just plain. If BB and Amy don't like them, try adding goodies as others have suggested.

Thanks Texas Wade for that video. After reading all the comments I felt like an outsider...I do not cook sweet potatoes. I have never tried, but Rio likes his potato chopped up with celery, broccoli, carrots and a little blackberry (he is working on a blue beak), plus anything else I can find fresh in the fridge. :green1:
