Sweet Male Eclectus at Shop

So today I went to the bird store I buy my food at and after buying the food I browsed the birds for adoption like usual (they house some birds for a local rescue). Well there is the sweetest male eclectus who is 11 and was turned in by his owner a week ago. The previous owner said he bites all the time and screams and when he screams she would put him in a closet in an 18 by 18 cage until he quieted down. Due to this he has plucked all his feathers. The store workers said he has yet to pull a feather since he has been at the rescue and doesn't bite anyone. I picked him up and he stepped up immediately and let me touch him all over. When I touched his feet he just pushed my finger away with a closed beak, no nipping nothing! I am in LOVE! I was ready to take him home right then but I decided to be responsible and think about it!

Ozzy and I are having issues with biting right now and I worry that bringing another bird it would cause more issues? Opinions on this? They would both be males, does this make a difference? Ozzy loves talking to other birds and hearing them on the TV or my computer so I imagine in the long run he would be happy and entertained when I am gone. I guess I am just looking for input from people who have read my story with Ozzy and know the situation. I spent an hour at the store and just love him! Ahhh such hard decisions!

personally, i think it would be a smart move. if hes sweet and you cant get him off your mind... then its meant to be! and it would give someone for ozzie to talk to and who knows, he might stop his biting

rather you then me! i think you know, the whole the 2 might not get on speel, and with ozzy being a tad beaky right now, hummmm

but if you have the space for 2 cages, i can't see why not. personally i'd love another bird, but i just don't have room for 2 main cages
way i see it is, if my nut don't like new feathered friend, they can each have there own cage, and space to call there own, and if they where to get on, then i can just get rid of 2nd cage

Bird lovers seem to fall for the birds we see in the stores. That is what they count on. When a bird lover walks in the store alarms go off and the sales people rush to tell the parrot "here comes you new person". Then the bird starts throwing you kisses and looks at you like your are the one.

So far this is what I noticed about JoJo, he did not bite at first, after a week of being used to me, he started testing out his beak on my fingers. So I quickly taught him not to do so. He's doing pretty good now and we haven't even had him for a month. Just remember they're diet specific birds, you MUST be willing to do so!!!!! Mine gets ALL kinds of food, sometimes I think they eat better then I do. We cooked them chicken breast, brown rice, assortment of veggies and fruits such as kale, celery, broccoli, carrots, green beans, corn on the cob, snow peas, sweet potatoes, papaya, oranges, bananas, grapes, grape fruit, kiwi, mango, strawberries, guava, cantaloupe, pineapple, etc. Gonna make them try more leafy greens which they don't like very much. Found a recipe to mix the veggies together that they would love.

They're wonderful birds!!!! IF you do decide to adopt him, you would find him very enjoyable like we do with ours. They're a lot of fun!!! Hope you the best!
