Hey, i've been having trouble locating some concrete info on conure maturity now my bundle of screams (Merlin) is 6 months old he was a hand reared chick and is a very sweet bird but i just want to be prepared for the dreaded terrible two's that is inevitably approaching but i've not managed to find that much on when they actually finish the adolescent phase.
Please correct me if i'm wrong but they start puberty anywhere between 1 and 2 years old (usually) and this will be triggered by the mating season?? (that bit's just guesswork). The mating season lasts from November to Febuary and will of course bring on numerous hormonal changes in the bird and cause them to be among other things nippy, territorial etc etc the list goes on...
Now from what little info i have tracked down they will endure these heavy hormonal changes for the first few years of the birds adult life until they eventually balance out?
Sorry i know this is kind of an open ended question but any help and advice would be great, it doesn't have to be just on sun conures i welcome all parrot puberty stories =) many thanks :orange:
