Hey all.
I have a 6 month old Blue Crown Conure and will start working on taming and training soon. He just arrived Friday so I'm just trying to get him to the point that he gets comfortable. We are now comfortable with the cage door being open and us being around without getting too nervous. He isn't clinging I to the side of the cage really at all any more after the last day and a half.
My question now is this; I am wanting to take the food bowl out and start scheduled feedings so that he depends on my hands to bring food. I'm hoping that brings a positive corilation that when he sees my hands, he gets his meal and treats.
Any suggestions on this method?
I'd like to do clicker training, but as we are now, he is too scared to take food from my hands either inside or out. Does this all sound ok?

You can designate a 'treat cup' inside the cage so even if the bird doesn't take treats from your hands, you can drop a treat to eat inside the cup.

I've never done scheduled meal times, but I know many trainers actually do meal times for their birds which helps with the birds training. I've done fine without it and with my life, it's not as easy to do meal times.
