As soon as I get them I'll send you photos don't worry! And put up pics on the forum for everyone to see!
Oh I'm so excited, always wanted some!!

My daughter has a pair that she bought as young gliders at a kiosk at the mall in Port Charolette, Florida about a year and half ago. She was living with us at the time. Their names are Bella and Gismo. It took us a while and a lot of little nips to get them tame but now they are totally bonded to her and will also go to other people. They are adorable and fun to play with, and very easy to care for. Gizmo is the more rambuctios of the two, Bella is more of a cuddler and loves to snuggle. She used to take them out on our screened lani and let them glide and jump to their hearts content. They need a large cage and lots of toys. The little barking noise they make is so funny.:)

I'll put pics up straight away! :D not for a few months though, don't have them till the end on jan/start of feb :( too far away!!

They, sadly, had sugar gliders for sale at the state fair this year. I really wanted to stop and look at them because they were SO adorable, but I just couldn't bring myself to give the time of day to the vendor selling impulse animals at a fair :-( I bet the majority of those animals have already been given to a shelter or are dead.

On a happier note, it sounds like you've taken the time to research these little cuties before bringing them home. I wish you the best of luck with them, and post up some pics!:green:

We used to have one named cinnamon(like cinnamon sugar, always wanted another one to name toast lol), he was really cool and super cute but there was one downfall, whenever you would hold him he would pee all over you and it smelled REALLY bad. I don't even know how to describe it but it was just a really pungent odor, he's the only sugie that I've ever really dealt with so I can't say if this is normal or common but he was on a very healthy diet and in good health otherwise so I don't think it was anything bad that caused it. I've been told that getting them neutered cuts down on the males marking tendencies but since we live in a state where they are illegal I couldn't just take him to get neutered. And yes, I would never advocate getting animals that are not legal to own and I really didn't do it intentionally but I was working at a small pet store at the time and went into work to find a post it note on the register that simply said my name, "sugar glider" and a phone number. I called the number and spoke with a woman who explained they bought the little guy at a flea market in maryland and after 6 months decided they didn't want him because he smelled too bad. They were keeping him in a bird cage and feeding him a very poor diet. I was afraid that if I didn't take him they would advertise him publicly and end up having him confiscated and killed by the game commission so I just took him in. Aside form the stinky pee he was really awesome, he loved to eat fresh fruits and veggies and would hold them in both front hands and just pig out, always reminded me of a little monkey when he ate. And they are super soft with fur similar to a chinchilla :)

When my daughter bought the sugar gliders they only sell neutered males and unneutered females. with the females there is no problem but by neutering the males you don't get the musky odor the same as in ferrets. They neuter the males to prevent the odor. In the sugar glider as long as they have a good diet with a moderate amt of proteins, fruits and veg and a good base diet they should not have an odor:)

We are getting two females for that exact reason lol.
But yes I did research, for the last two years. I always go into deep detail researching before introducing a new addition to my family of fury, scaly and feathery kiddies. I hate when people impulse buy and get it because it was cute, or because it was "cool" to have. Or whatever.
I have been slowly buying bits and pieces for them and finally I have everything I need except food! Can't wait till I get them!! :)

In my daughters gliders the female Bella is more laid back and loves to cuddle and be petted while gizmo the male is the explorer. I think two females are a good idea.:)
