I have 2 green cheecks, trix and rhythm. They live at the very clinic I work at. And until now have been happy to be held by anyone. This weekend me and my husband were at the clinic and I introduced him to the birds. Yesterday everything was fine the birds were content to sit with him, but today rhythm started bitting hard. She has gotten him twice now and has tried to bite both of us several times. They get plenty of time out of the cage especially on weekends. So I don't know what could b the cause. I don't know the sex of the birds or if that would even be a factor. Any ideas would be wonderful.

hormones, you've not said how old they are, and that could be a factor as well, as well as there sex.

also your husband was new to the birds yesterday, so they where on best behaviour, rather like my nut is with new ppl, then she gets really bitey with them.

my nut is currently hormonal and about to go into her molt, so happy days (not) till feb for us, with her lol

you can go back tomorrow an they could be all back to normal, or be just a grumpy, if illness canbe ruled out, best thing to do (in my mind) would be to give them space, read there body language so you can understand there intentions and if there in the mood to be fussed, i've done the ruling out and avoiding things that would set the nut off, the list just got longer an longer, to the point it was just tip toeing around her.

I agree with Suebee. It could have been hormonal. It also could have been them being on their best behavior upon first meeting your husband and then testing him the second time around. It is also possible they don't like him, and birds can be weird like that. They just don't like some people for no good reason sometimes. My ex bf tried very hard to make friends with my Blue Crown, but she never liked him. He gave her all her special foods every day and 3 years later it was still the same. It very much hurt his feelings.

That's sad.... I thought I was a pretty likeable guy....

Rhythm was awesome yesterday and I thought he would be my buddy. Even flew from the perch to my shoulder and hung out. I really want him to like me. I like the birds but its gonna suck if they don't like me because I'll have basically two new pets for Blue....

Oh yeah .... Hey Honey!

As for their ages, rhythm is probably about 2 years and trix around 6-8 months. Really wish I knew the sex of the pair. I think it would make things easier to understand.

Here's Rhythm yesterday when he wasn't a jerk.

It's the hormones like it was mentioned. Sometimes it just varies from bird to bird. IF your hubby really wants a bird, probably should go have one choose him. We let the birds choose us. There's my partner and I, so IF I do go get birds and bring them home, I let them choose between us. Most of our birds can go with one or the other, but they do prefer just either my partner or I. As they rather sit on the one they like. When you pressure the baby to go to someone new, sometimes they will attack you instead. But sometimes you do get a fully hormonal bird that neither one of you can handle. Sometimes it is best to let someone else whom they will choose on their own, to take on the responsibility of loving him/her. Which I may have to do that with my macaw after 8 years having him. He's going through full hormone and is at his full maturity age at 10 years. He is only nice to one of the dogs and not anyone else including me whom he used to love. We're working on a extra bird room right now and going to move him into the bird room away from the dogs to see if he improves. Cause he's just not shaking it since October which is way past the 6 weeks mark...He got me again real good last night while I was holding him, my hand was all bloody and bruised...I can not constantly battle with him as it is not fair for him to stay in his cage, but I can not hold him without getting attacked. I could of prevented from being bit last night IF I threw him down, but then he would get hurt and it would hurt me if I did that to him. So It took the biting....One thing you could do is by separating them apart. In separate room IF needed. I do that with some of my birds when there's an issue and it works. But my extra room isn't done for Willie to move into yet. It needs new paint job with semi-gloss paint to make the wall easy for wipe down. Install the new flooring as the room has carpeting right now. Give the separating thing a try to see what happens. Good Luck!

I have met a couple of birds that didn't like me. They tend to make snap decisions. And for some, it can be gender. They like women and not men, or vice versa. Some birds hate redheads. Others think redheads are the hottest beings they've ever seen and instantly fall in love. It is hard to say with birds! There was something though about my ex bf that bird just didn't like. And honestly, he was the only person I ever saw her just downright hate. She even lunged at him to bite anytime he walked past her.

I've also met birds that upon seeing me for a few seconds, just chose me. I once had to do all my shopping at Pet Supplies Plus with a cockatoo. It just jumped on my arm when I went past it, and would not go back onto it's cage, lol! When I finally needed to leave it took a few employees to get it back into it's cage. My Nanday chose me as well. And I've met a couple of Green Wing macaws that immediately chose me, too. I once ended up with at least 50 people around me in a circle watching me interact with one. It was actually a bit embarrassing when I found out I was their entertainment that day, lol! I'm not really a center of attention sort of person.
