So the bossy brat wore me down (actually, he didn't even try) lol.

I bought his Christmas presents on Tuesday and they arrived Thursday. I bought him a birdy blanket, a few cozy corners and a fleece "birdy buddy" all from MSBS.

Needless to say, he got his presents today. lol. You should've seen his reaction to the birdy buddy. Normally, he's rather defensive about me putting new toys in his cage. He's fine (for the most part) when I go to clean his cage, he just insists on being by the cage door while I'm doing it as if he's "inspecting" my work.

Well, when he saw the 'birdy buddy' he went nuts. Bobbed his head up and down real fast (this means "i want, i want") and trying to grab it away from me with his beak. He kept grabbing the chains and chewing on the plastic rings and he made his trademark "purr-ing" sound when he rubbed his head on it. I think he's over the moon excited about it and it just made my day to see him so very happy.

He was even more excited than he is when I have pasta or when he gets a new bungee boing. Never seen him react that way before. I'm gonna get him two more 'birdy buddies'. One for his day cage and one for his playstand.

I'm actually in the process of making a homemade playstand for the bedroom. lol.

Hey Skittys_Daddy, long time, no see. Glad to see Skittles happy and foolish as ever! I love it when the birds get so excited over something new. You can just feel the happy vibes radiating from them. Nothing better than spoiled rotten birdies. :)

Of course, now you're gonna have to start his Christmas shopping all over again lol!

How'd you know? LOL.

This is why I normally wait til a few weeks before Christmas to get his presents. But with COVID and the uncertainty of shipping and likely delays due to more shipping this holiday than last, I wanted to make sure he had presents.

I'm hoping to have his homemade playstand done by Christmas. I want to find ways to color the wood, safely, since he will likely chew on it since he is a conure after all. lol.

I'm "hoping" he will take to the new playstand when I put it in the bedroom. I've been spending a lot of afternoons in bed either playing on my tablet or reading to kill time during the pandemic. But he prefers to sit on my chest in between me and the tablet or book. Hence, he HAS to be the center of attention. So I want to find a way to keep him busy or distracted so I can do reading.

Normally, during the afternoon, I am out doing errands three or four days a week for a couple of hours so this whole thing has been an adjustment for him as well.

Ha! My Ekkie Tucker is pretty good at entertaining himself, but when he wants my undivided attention, it's all over. He either grabs my hands/fingers, or gets in my face and tries to grab my lips. No biting, just grabbing and holding on. Really cute, but super annoying if I'm trying to read, type, use my phone at all... He's also super jealous of Baxter, my YNA, and tries to let me know spending time with her in not acceptable lol! He gets over it, and it's all good.

I'm the center of this World and you Human's really need to understand that fact! Parrots Rule (some more than others) !!! :D

After I woke up this morning, I did my normal routine. Woke Skittles up and let him out so he can do his morning "dump" in the proper place. LOL. I then took my meds and prepared my breakfast as well as his morning treats. I go back into my bedroom and sit up & watch tv & eat breakfast. Then I lay back down to nap a bit. At this point, Skitty will go back into his sleep cage as soon as he sees me preparing to nap. LOL. When I wake up (or make noise like I am getting out of bed) he normally rushes to the front of the cage and climbs out. But he wasn't doing that. I couldn't find him and started to worry. So I went over to his sleep cage and said "Skitty" in my birdy voice and he climbed out from under his new favorite toy, his "birdy buddy". He REALLY likes that. He actually sleeps inside it which is weird cause the inside is a vertical tunnel. lol.
