I'm so thrilled that our adoption went so well. I saw a retired breeding pair on a web site - and although I was skeptical because of the price, I contacted the seller and we ended up bringing them home on Friday. All went well and by Saturday morning they were out of their box and were unbelievably well settled in. Now they are chatting and whistling, and taking treats from our hand. They are not hand tamed, and I was told that they didn't get treats and would likely need to be introduced. The male will take them from hand, but the female is more reserved, and will only go to the dish when I add them. So far they like most of what I've tried, peas, corn, and a few nuts. They aren't so thrilled with fruit, but maybe after a while they will be.
We believe that the male, at least, was someone's pet before they became a breeding pair. He seems very interested in everything going on around him.
They do have their favorite TV shows - cartoons, and are not afraid to express their displeasure at anything that they don't care for. My finance has begun consulting with them before changing the channel! They have him well trained already.
