Success at last!

My daughter loves Puffin and he loves her but he annoys her so much some days when she has her day off and is the only one home and she is trying to sleep in and he screams Hayley non stop until she gets up and then as soon as she sits down to watch a movie he starts again. So when hubby and I talked about getting another bird she was not happy!

I decided I would have better luck convincing her if I could get Puffin to behave which was hard because he never does this when I am home which only frustrates my daughter more! So i moved to plan B which was to let Puffin convince her so I put my plan in action ......I took Puff aside and tried to teach him what I thought would be an absolute certainty to get Hayley to agree but Puffin just would not do it so I kind of got distracted with life and gave up about a month ago.

Last night we were sitting down eating dinner and out of the blue Puffin said " Hayley, I really, really want a girlfriend" in a begging sort of tone.........what I had spent weeks teaching him but he had never said...and Hayley melted!

Guess who is getting a girlfriend!

My daughter had just taken a mouthful of water when he said it and well she nearly choked!

I think it wasn't just that he said it but the tone he used that made it even better.

I would love to get an Amazon but they are just so expensive here so I will probably get a female ecky. I will go see the breeder we got puffin from and see what she has. She had just got her first amazon when we picked puffin up so maybe she has started breeding amazons now and she might me reasonable but we would still be looking at several thousand compared to around $750 for an ecky.

Uh oh, looks like I have created a monster!!! Now he won't stop saying it! I have been home for all of five minutes and all I have heard is " I really really want a girlfriend"!

That is awesome! Dexter is just 5 months and sits in the back of his cage muttering to himself what appears to be HI! and Herro! and What's up!. Still waiting to hear more
