Keats (budgie) born Feb. 18, 2011, and Raphael (budgie) adopted July 3, 2011. Finn, a Brown-Head Poicephalus, born January 4, 2010, has also joined the family!
Since first bringing home my little Keats last March, I've been reading as much as I can on bird health, positive reinforcement training, etc. I took a 2-day workshop on positive reinforcement training in September, just after bringing home my big boy, Finn (well, to me he's big) :)

I immediately subscribed to BirdTalk magazine so that I'd have a regular inflow of information on parrot care. I've also been buying up past issues of other bird magazines to find out which ones I might want to subscribe to. As of yesterday, I added Good Bird Magazine and the Companion Parrot Quarterly - both online magazines - to my subscriptions.

What other parrot magazines and resources do others find useful? I've also looked at a few issues of the UK publication Parrot.

every year they have a "Birds USA" and its like a big magazeen of tons of bird stuff, they only have a new one once a year but i think they sell it year round at pet stores, i really love it it has lots of info, species, and breeder and club listings :D

I got a hold of some very old bird talk magazines and I have to say they were much more full of information and much thicker. Now the magazine is as thin as a few pieces of paper. Shame on them, Seem many of the magazines that were published are now only for the computer. Guess it is a cost thing.

I had a one year subscription to Bird Talk 12 years ago and found it quite helpful and informative. I was thinking of subscribing again, but it sounds like it just isn't the same. That's a shame. I believe Birds USA is put out by Bird Talk, but I do have several of that from different years. If you can still find the 2011 one it had a great list of diseases and symptoms. Maybe the 2012 one does as well. If so, everyone should add that to their collection. Nothing I've seen on the 'net was as comprehensive as that one.

My pet store has up to date copies of bird talk and I got my first one yesterday. It has some good articles but it seems it's mostly about the free poster and breeders throughout the book.It still gives me something to read so I'll probably keep getting it.I didn't see birds USA though

They may have pulled the 2011 Bird USA copies now and maybe the 2012 one isn't out yet. If you haven't seen it, be patient I guess since the new year just started. It also has lists of breeders, avian vets, supplies for birds and bird clubs you can join in your area.

hmm this is a great idea, I will have to subscribe to something. I love to read anyway. Maybe I can find a parrot specific type or do any of you currently subscribe to one that you would recommend to a new bird person?
