Merlin a Red Crowned Amazon
Merlin has been doing a new thing, he is getting on my hand or foot & doing what im calling a strut dance. His feathers are super fluffy, he struts back & forth and bobs his head & rubs his beak. I afraid this is some kind of mating ritual. He has been increasingly aggressive to my husband. Not all the time, but enough that I notice. I don't want this to escalate to a forever problem. He feeds him & gives him treats. Maybe we just have to wait for the season to pass? I'm afraid my little boy is a foot man. lol

yep...Dusty is going through the same thing. :) Except that he normally hates men at all occasions but recently started likeing my boyfriend all of a sudden. Liking to the point that his mating ritual is now presented to my mom, myself and my boyfriend.

Thanks guys. I had a feeling, but he is not too extreme, nothing that would cause him to go blind. lol Red crowned must not get as bad as some. Or it could be early days yet. Time will tell. I have been puzzled that he could make it to 5 w/o going thru it.

Oliver is 4 and he does the same thing for my wife, well he does it on his cage though near her chair, because he still doesn't adventure too far from his cage on our hands. But he is very hormonal and he is NOT afraid to show it LoL

Bean is 6 and starting this nonsense. He all the sudden can't stand my boyfriend after knowing him the past 5 years. We are working on his naughtiness, and things are looking up. :)

Once the time passes he will be better. I discourage them by ignoring them whenever they start. Willie gets overly aggressive. After it passes everything goes back to normal. :)

I guess I will have to put him down when he starts. He doesn't get too aggressive w/me, but he doesn't like my husband to even touch me. We're working on it, it doesn't help that he spends the whole day w/me & Tom is gone. I'm going to try in the cage time in the afternoon, to try to ween him off of 24/7 mommy time. If this is as bad as it gets, we will be ok.

It will pass soon and keep up on discouraging him from doing so. :)
