Stress Feathers!?

So, today I had my Green Cheeked Conure out on my shoulder, when I went to give her a kiss. What I saw when turned my head, were STRESS FEATHERS!:11:! I have no idea why they are there! I have her out EVERYDAY. She has billions of toys which I change around often, she gets fresh water everyday (sometimes twice a day when she takes a bath) and gets fresh fruit and veggies for breakfast and dinner, along with a constant supply of Harrisons Pellets mixed with bee pollen. She had stess feathers when we got her from a previous home, but they went away...

What could be causing the stress feathers!!? These stress feathers are stressing ME out. aha.

Stress bars occur after a molt when new feathers are growing in. That is why there are usually manny feathers with stress bars at the same time. It is usually environmental or nutritional. The bird could have had a simple illness that went unnoticed and caused the stress bars. Stress in the home or cage or something lacking from the diet. Since you obviously supply a good home and idet for your bird you may want to seek an avain vets opinion to make sure the liver and kidneys are processing nutrients correctly.

Thank you Cass. Through all my research I failed to even come across "stress bars" on feathers. Looking into it now and checking Hiroshi tomorrow!

If I were you, I would not give my bird pollen every day. It is very nutritious but it is also very high in protein and you are already feeding pellets. The reason I mention this is because stress bars can be caused by liver malfunction and high protein is the number one cause of it in pet birds. Has she ever had a bile acids test? Is the only way of accurately testing liver function.
