Hi all,
So I'm the new owner of a Quaker parrot named Oats who is just over 6 months old, he likes to hang out on the top of his cage, but recently I noticed he's stading in the same spot for a really long time, with his face pretty much touching the wall, he stays as still as a statue which is very strange for him (I should mention I don't actually know the gender I've just always called him a him), no matter how hard I try I can't snap him out of it, I have to physically pry his feet off the cage to move him, I noticed a shadow is visible, could he be attached to it? Is this a sign of something else? Please help I'm starting to get worried about my little man :(

Has he gone to sleep and is this why you can't snap him out it? As you probably know birds lock their toes round the perch when sleeping.

I swear you could march a brass band past Plum on occasions and then on others he will tell us off if a pin drops LOL.

Hello and a warm welcome to you and Oats. At six months your quaker should be busy and active for most of the day. Is he getting enough sleep at night? Birds need about twelve hours of uninterrupted sleep. Is he eating normally? Do his poops look normal? How long has he been doing this? Other than the extended naps is he behaving normally? Does he appear to be tired or lethargic? Birds are very good at hiding symptoms of illness. I hope it's nothing but it may be a good idea to make an appointment with an Avian vet for him.

Yeah now that you mention it it was pretty late at night but the whole time he stands there he doesn't appear to be sleeping, other than this his behaviour and activity during the day is completely normal, maybe he's just telling me he needs to go to sleep
