stopping parrot from chewing walls

this is mainly a query to ask if what i am doing is ok

it all started with nut, flying and perching on top of our combi boiler, the main problem there are the earthing wires and bits of metal she can get to, well as i can't reach and telling her of did not work i waved a wooden spoon at her, near her

that worked as soon as i go to pick this wooden spoon up, she perches somewhere else,

she has now taken to chewing the plaster of the walls where the curtain poles are grrr!!! so i used same wooden spoon and she gets the message and stops what she is doing

she does not seem to mind me cooking with the spoon etc or being in the same room as it etc

i have never made contact with her using the spoon, and when i wave its like i'm shakin my finger at her but with the spoon?

I wouldn't be surprised if your girl requires more calcium in her diet. Hence chewing the plaster walls, (plaster of paris) powdered calcium. It is what the calcium bells are made from. She is maturing & will need extra calcium should she start laying eggs.

She would only think the wooden spoon is a joke & i don't really think she would be offended.

A female bird knows what her body needs. Are you providing cuddle bones, mineral blocks, oyster shells? Sure they do get it from their food, but they still require to have a little extra for other needs like what pedro says.

At the sametime they chew it up cause its fun to do cause my macaw does it and he have everything he needs....lol

thanks and lol i'd think if she was offended she'd pick it up and hit me with it!

she did have a cuttle fish bone in her cage, but never showed interest, will try a bell lol

oh she is through to the brick now!! hubs is not overly impressed, but i do want to redecorate

Perfect excuse!!!!! Tell hubby nut is helping with the process! I would still try to stop nut from chewing it because of paint on the surface....
