13yr. old male umbrella cockatoo,
we call him Amigo!

7yr. old Goffin cockatoo, she IS Sassy!!
Whew! It's been over 100 degrees for the last few days, thankfully tomorrow starts a cooling trend, only in the 90's, that's a relief!

Amigo's been in for the last couple days but I cut him loose this morning. He came a knockin' at the window, a bit ago, wanting in. His tounge was hanging out, panting,,,wings, away from his body, looking pretty sorrowful, poor buddy!

The heat doesn't normally bother him. Maybe just getting over his foot injury has made him a little bit more sensitive. He's in the cool house now, taking a nap!

It is pretty hit down in SoCal now too, I actually had to go get fans for everybody today because they were all panting and I didn't want to turn the ceiling fans on.
Poor Amigo, I hope his foot starts feeling better soon.

It's so nice that you let him hang out outside and be free, I wish I could do that but I'm scared I would never see my birdies again(partly them just not coming back and partly them possibly getting eaten).
I glad his foot is doing better.

Yeah, cdog, I can truly understand your fear and it's ok to be afraid, it's a good thing, actually. Amigo is such a force out there, (totally terrorizing the neighborhood, at this moment), in the evening before he tucks in, that's pretty much the norm. If this guy wasn't such a tyrant, he probably wouldn't do well outside.

Lol, I can just picture it, an umbrella too chasing all the wild life around! Hahaha

Sully is evil too but since he is so small he could hold his own against a bigger animal.

We have Jaybird, a 20 y.o. U2, for a long weekend, and just this morning she again claimed the bed as wifey's and hers, lunging at me when I come near. Greybeard is being a little aggressive with her at mealtime, and she has gone off the playstand to eat cat kibbles a couple of times, rather than confront him. All in all, it's not too bad.

It finally got into the 70s this week, here near an ocean of some size. We're heading for a fam reunion in Oregon with our two "grandchildren" next week, and will see our share of hot.

We are in the 100 degree range in Texas as well...........expecting to go over which isn't any worse for us. When it is less than 100 the humidity makes it so much worse. 105 -108 is like an oven but not as humid. In our area we hit 112 last year a few times. It was a horrible summer. This one isn't shaping up too well either considering we have the rest of July and Aug our worst months.

Every year my family goes to AZ to go tubing and it is HOT! It was 110 at 11pm! And to think I'm going to be moving there in a few years, not that same place but it does get on average of 100 there which is pretty hot for an average!

Hah, I'll trade you some british weather for your lovely summer heat!

Ok, sure! I love rainy days, cold, dark and rainy! I don't know why but I just love that kind of weather.

Oh Mare your not alone, its hot on this side to. Thankfully I enjoy the heat, I have put a fan outside for the birds and extra water dishes for them as well. Rocco was scared of the oscillating fan at first, took him a few days to get used to it.

Really? I'd take 100* weather over rainy weather anyday.

I have a good friend that lives in Carlsbad, SoCal, we were talking the other day and she was embarrassed to tell me the temp! She said she was afraid I would hate her! Haha, she was right!

Our deck faces west and in the afternoon the sun radiates off our deck and cooks what ever may be around. Our digital thermometer read 113 degrees a couple days ago! It was also at 49 percent humidity. I can deal with it, in a cool house, Amigo agrees.

If you lived here in the UK and had almost 2 Months of Rain, as we have, I am sure you would change your mind! It is very depressing :( Some Summer we are having

No I would love two months of rain, I love dark cold days!

It's been pretty hot up here in Canada, too these past couple weeks. Between 85-93. Rain sounds nice! We always get forest fires o' plenty when it's this hot and dry. My house is impossible to cool down, so it gets to 80 degrees inside. Pixel seems to actually enjoy it though... not me! Lol.
