ernie, a yellow indian ringneck
iā€™ve already posted a number of threads in regards to this same problem, but i continue to be dumbfounded that after two weeks, two vet trips, and countless hours of research, my now 7 week old irn literally will not stop sneezing, and iā€™ve tried just about everything to find out why. his avian vet said he seems to be very healthy after both of my visits, and she recommended a humidifier and air purifier, which iā€™ve already had running in my room. iā€™m so confused, he seems to be in perfect health beside the sneezing literally every 20 minutes or so (though heā€™ll sometimes go a number of hours before i hear another sneeze). iā€™m at a loss for what to do, because iā€™ve already spent about $300 on vet bills trying to figure out the problem. i guess iā€™m extra anxious about it since my gcc passed away due to a respiratory infection a few months ago, so the thought of something being left unchecked terrifies me. i feel like since itā€™s so frequent, something has to be up, but i really donā€™t know what i can do since my vet is sure heā€™s healthy.

Has the vet done any tests or just a physical exam?

she did a test for chlamydia and that came back negative, and sheā€™d put him on azithromycin for ten days the first time i took him because although she said he checked out on the physical exam, she wanted to make sure he didnā€™t have an infection. he finished the antibiotic, but he was still sneezing so i took him back in to see if anything had developed further enough that sheā€™d be able to tell if something was wrong, and she said he still looked completely healthy and didnā€™t do any further testing.

quick update if anyone sees this; he started acting way more tired than heā€™s usually been, i thought iā€™d seen him wheezing a bit, and he refused his last couple feedings so i rushed him back into the vet (this time a new avian vet at a different branch of the clinic, to get a second opinion) and she said he seemed f i n e. she said his physical exam showed all normal signs of a healthy baby and she swabbed the roof of his mouth and said there was no excess bacteria at all. of course right after iā€™d spent another $200 on the little guy thinking he was near death, he went back to his usual behavior. funny how that seems to work haha. his sneezing hasnā€™t stopped still, but both the vetsā€™ best guess is an allergy of some sort since itā€™s so frequent, so iā€™m hoping if i start taking out some of his different foods i can pinpoint the problem one, if thatā€™s what it happens to be. iā€™ve had a sun conure and a gcc before and theyā€™ve both given a good number of scares, but i think baby ernie takes the cake.
