Kaleeko has started sticking her head out through our cages bars. My son is very worried she''ll get her head stuck and break her neck. The cage is a cockatiel and conure cage, so why would the bars be wide enough for her to get her head through? It is definitely a tight squeeze when she does this, and its scary. What should we do? The cage is new, we just bought it online so it would be difficult to return.
this is the cage:

There is nothing else you can do but buy a new Cage with a smaller bar spacing! You really need to take her out of there now, before a tragedy happens:(

I looked at that cage too. I didn't buy it because the bar spacing was 3/4. You need to get bar spacing of at least 1/2.

this is the cage I got, and it has been working great. My bird is a Pineapple Conure. He is a little smaller most conures I have seen. the 1/2 bar spacing has been perfect.

Do you have a small travel Cage or something similar? If not then yes, you could buy a small budgie Cage! That would be ok for a couple of days.

I was gonna buy that cage for a sun conure?! will it be ok??

I ended up paying for overnight shipping. I have amazon Prime so it was only $9 shipping for that cage. Hopefully she'll be alright until we get the new cage tomorrow.
I'll just keep her out of her cage a lot.
DannyA93...where do you live? I would sell you the other cage for $75 if you pay shipping.

DannyA93 - let me know if you are interested in the cage. We have it all broken down now and cleaned.

5/8" is the maximum size for a Green Cheek. I think the Sun can go up to 3/4", but to be on the safe side, I wouldn't go past 5/8".

When a cage is sold for "cockatiels and conures" it typically means cockatiels and large conures. Most pyrrhura species are actually smaller than cockaitels are, since the avg weigh of a cockatiel is around 90 grams, and many green cheeks often weigh 55-80 grams...
