Big Bird _ Blue & Gold Macaw
Temps went down last night. Small ice storm unusual here except the generator was not working. The dogs were ok they were snuggled together. BF said you need to get BB and get him to the car or under a blanket with you........... Yeah right ok

I walked over to the cage he jumped down to the perch on the door and stood waiting for me to open the cage . I said ok Big boy this is it you step up or freeze and stuck my hand out. He stepped up as pretty as you please . I held my breath and brought him against me and headed toward the living room. About the time I got there the lights came on . Mr Smart Azz Macaw yelled HAHAHAHA Flew back to his cage landing on the door perch and yelled WEEEEEEEEEEE ( the sound I normally make to him when closing the door ) He then yelled Nite Nite . I walked over to the cage shut the door Yes I made the wee sound . BB went up top and settled down for the night again
All this took place about 1am
I stood there dumfounded for about 5 min it seemed. I said what the heck just happened . BF said You have just been duped by a Bird

Macaws and cockatoos are two of the most manipulative creatures on the face of the earth...

Sounds like things are progressing.

Thank you and Yes they are. I had to leave for work before he woke up good so we shall see if he steps up tonight .
I need to take more pictures. His colors are getting so bright but still lack of feathers around his neck just the fuzzy down feathers. Some Pin so hope it fills in soon.
It is progressing. Slow but forward.

Well, one of these days you'll have the opposite problem on your hands.

DON'T PUT ME DOWN! I DON'T WANT TO GO DOWN... PLEEEEZE, LET ME STAY WITH YOU....

That's too true my cockatoo has me wound around her little foot! I can't help it she is just too cute. Especially when they say I love you at just the right moment. I'd give her just about anything.

The most suckered I ever got by a bird was a sqauwkitoo down at the rescue.

It was hanging upside down by one foot, thrashing around in what appeared to be a full on birdie panic attack, with a toe caught in the quick link of a toy...

So I ran over there opened the door and tried to help. And immediately had a bird run up my arm to my shoulder! "Don't put me back! Pleeeeezzzeee! I wanna stay with you!" :D

My Ruby macaw was a tad more nasty about it. She was a serial biter. She would lower her head, and raise her head feathers, and do all the usual macaw "come hither" things, begging for a head scratch...

THEN SHE WOULD DELIBERATELY NAIL YOU! SUCKER! I AM NOT AT ALL FRIENDLY... I JUST WANTED TO SEE IF YOU'D BE STUPID ENOUGH TO TRY..." Took me almost 8 months to retrain that one! She was one of the smartest birds I ever worked with - and EVIL TO THE CORE!

Aww...congrats! That's great!

Thanks ! I think at first I was trying way to hard......... along with the fear factor of screwing up. The bite was nothing to laugh about but screwing up this bird anymore than he was just freaked me out. LOL I have been nipped enough to know i will not die . Still amazed how quick a bruise will form on your arm. Right before your eyes. Amazing.
So now I am just relaxing and enjoying this amazing creature.
He now has a pet of his own. I brought my beta fish home from work . He sits on the table close to the cage. I am now finding small bits of Pellets floating now and then. Caught him feeding the fish late yesterday. Tossing food . He has a good aim. What misses the bowl the dogs get.

LOL @ Birdman. You have had some funny birds in your life
