How do people keep them as pets >.<!

I was googling pet spiders up because a friend of mine has a tarantula and I heard of people having black widows as pets! And they bred them!

>.<!

generally people that keep black widows help poison control and other organizations make antivenom :)

It is the same with me, in the house I'm the one that kills the roaches(We aren't messy, summer is just the time that roaches flock in) and she kills the spiders.

I used to keep black widows as pets when I was younger back in HS. I even brought a specimen to my Biology Honors teacher. He thought it was neat, I bring in bugs all the time to my teacher and he kept them to show other students.

my college is nasty... I pulled off the cover to the ac in my dorm room and the dragons were at the ready eating everything that dropped from roaches to spiders... luckily they didnt get a hold of either of the female widows in there! o.o

Spiders are the only pets that I will never own or want to own lol, the idea of them being in my room would keep me up for weeks!.

You should of seen my old home up in Pensacola, the landlord from which we rented from said he bug freed the apartment but a month or two later, the GF and I redo the flooring and BOOM a colony of roaches!

I don't do roaches!!!! Those are nasty!!!! In the condo we were living at before, the girl roommate brought them in with her and infested the whole condo, that was before I moved in. The moment I kicked her out I bombed the whole place and washed everything. No food in the house at all for a month!!!! We use bleach water to sanitize all the counter tops and flooring, all the dishes, etc. Threw out all the furniture and I bought all brand new ones. We were bug free after a month. I had to get all that out of the way before I can ever own a animal in that place....

i'd never put an animal in a situation where they could become infested with anything :( that's just cruel

We moved out right after that(though we had to fix the flooring :(!) and made sure nothing followed us back home, lucky me I haven't come across any big bug problems so far, besides some ants in are pathway.

Worst experience by far though is I was in the garage playing a video game(back when a xbox was the thing to be on! lol), lights off, just the TV light shining and down comes this HUGE spider in my face, ALL you see is this dark figure of it at eye level. I dashed out of there and that xbox was on for a good 2 to 3 hours before I would dare go back in there.

EDIT: I didn't know bearded dragons are able to eat roaches. One more reason to think about a bearded dragon in a later date.

lol they shouldn't eat wild roaches regularly... it can be dangerous. we squished what we could but tess is serious about her roaches lol i gave her a hissing roach and she tore it up! so nasty but sooo funny lol

lol well ya, to much of a chance of pesticides but still I could use it to coax the GF into warming up to one ;)

oh they're wonderful. take her to a pet store that has adults, females tend to be more mellow, she'll love how she can put the dragon on her shirt and it'll happily hold on :D Tessie will climb up my shirt, onto my shoulder, and put her front claws in my hair if my hair is pulled back in a ponytail lol

I had a pet huntsman once :)

And we have a female red back ( do you call them widows??? ) living just outside the door.

Spiders are awesome! :p
Red back and widows are the same thing ^_^ might just be a cultural difference lol. I think I saw my first black widow in Japan and I had NO idea what it was! Nearly picked it up to bring to my mom till a janitor ran up to me and told me not to do that.

I dont know how anyone could ever keep a spider as a pet!!! Just thinking about it I feel like I have spiders crawling all over me >.< My cousins brother had roaches and he has a tarantula right now. Gah they are soo gross!!!

a roach as a pet is DISGUSTING! I know people that have had them as pets... NASTYYYY!
