This is just a random pet peeve I find more and more jarring each time I see it.
Dusky conure, blue fronted amazon, Meyer's parrot... these are SPECIES not breeds.
We have different breeds of dogs because they are all members of the same species [in fact in some classifications all breeds of dogs kept as pets are all in the same sub-species.]
It was most jarring when I saw "Amazon parrots" referred to as a breed - not only is that not a breed it is also not a species but rather a genus or group of different species.
Yes this is random, so feel free to ignore this post... and ignore all the guffaws you hear from my corner if you refer your parrot's "breed".
