I have a lot of threads at the moment with videos haha but i thought this deserved its own thread ;)

I took a video of Fargos flight training yesterday..
Took me 2 hours last night to edit, and then as i was exporting it said there would be a water mark because i was using the free trial version
So thanks to Ashley, i used another one and finally did it!

I typed in my itunes "fly" and it came up with this song, its called flying home, and i thought it fit well haha :p

You can see in the third clip he flew past me, and i was like get down from there! :p

This was also before i cleaned the house, so its very messy, i should of cleaned before i took the video  :54:

The quality is bad, its just taken from my ipod, but here we go!

Enjoy :D

That was great, and the music did fit perfectly!

video quality isn't too bad, it's better than the camcorder my sister had in the 90's lol and it was was bigger than an ipod too XD

LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!! That really reminded me of Miri, she is a great flier as well and at coming on command. That song was cool too, send me a link to it please. :)

I need to post on Miri's progress since moving the bird area, she's really coming around :)

I managed to train my b and g to do this after 2 weeks of having him but he only does it if he wants attention. Or food. My mate works on a farm so when the weathers warmer were planning on leting him loose inside one of them big greenhouses as my living room isn't overly large.

Haha yes i started with Fargo when i first got him and he was coming on command after 3 days :) I always have nut treats when he comes though, but if i hold my arm up he will come even if i don't have treats, but i just like rewarding him :p

That's a good idea!! I'm sure he will have a great fly in the big area :)

The video gave me goosebumps, Tab!!! SO AWESOME!!!! The music is PERFECT, Fargo and you together are just that: PERFECT!!!

Man I wish Niko would stop having accidents with his wings. I SO want him to fly. :( Maybe one day.....

Hehe thank you  :D

Awww! Poor Niko! :31: One day!!! :)

What about Ripley? Is he a big flier? Do you think he could fly as far as Australia? :54: hahaha

Ripley is clipped, but his flights are starting to come in. ;) When he does the flap flap, which he does much and often, it feels like I'm in a tornado. LOL. I really think he will be an amazing flier once his flights have grown in.

As far as Australia?? Hmm.....I guess I should rent a rowboat and paddle underneath him as he "glides" over the big ocean, yes? JUST in case he won't make it, I'll be in that rowboat, catching him.

Thanks Jt! :)

LOL Wendy!! I can just imagine you in this little row boat with Ripley flying above, now THAT would be a long trip, maybe see you in a few months?

I love watching parrot flying videos. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I love the squat down before they take off thing macaws do. Valentino does the same thing. He will squat down like your Fargo does right before he flies to me from his Java tree.

I loved the scene when he was taking the treat from your hand. Holy cow he has a HUGE TONGUE! I thought Valentino's tongue was large but Fargo beats him because his is larger, darker and more thick. (I hope that does not sound as bad as it did when I read it back to myself. LOL)

If you can get him higher up to fly down to you that is a skill that is very valuable. It took me a week to teach Valentino to fly down to me from a great height. Just in case he ever escapes to outside I will be able to call him down to me without him being scared or clueless of how to do it. Is your house one level? If you live in two level house try to have someone hold him upstairs while you call to him from below so he can learn to fly down to you. Fargo probably already know how to fly down but a test to make sure he can would give your mind at ease for him knowing that skill.

Here in MN it the highs have been between 35 to 40 degrees F for us. Soon when the weather is warm enough I will train Valentino to wear the harness and experience outside with me. I cannot wait.

Tab, that Rocks! Loved the build up in the music ;)...what kind on nuts do you uses to coax Fargo?

Spencer too flight over the houses in Scottsdale where I lived several years ago, he was in the garage with me and got spooked and he was off. I believe that scared him (and me!) so much that I dont foresee him flying, and I tell the vet to take an extra feather or two!

Haha Peter I dont think we will be going outside any time soon :p

Hehe yes i love that little squat too! and i loved when he was running with his wings open and then slipped hahaha :D

LOL and his tongue is so strong too ! Have you got any videos of Valentino flying??

Thats a great idea, but our house is only one story :(
Let us know how you go with the harness :) I have gone outside with it on Fargo once, need to stop being lazy and do it again :p

Thanks Cami :D haha, pecan nuts! Just cracked into those little pieces, he comes without a treat, but i love rewarding him ;)
Oh wow!! That would of been very scary! So he is clipped now?

Yes, well actually he was clipped then, after I got him back(Thank God) after climbing over many boulders and around cacti from a desert wash where he crashed down, (which is another story!!)I took him to the vet and advised that he took the scenic route over scottsdale, and needed his wings clipped further. The vet spread out his wings and responded "he flew like this?" Meaning he didn't have many feathers to hold him up, but he is such a strong bird that was able to take flight with minimal feathers...so now I always have the vet take as many feather off less the blood ones, just to be safe. But what a day that was...still gives me heart palpatations.
