Sorry

Parrots are still consider wild animals and they're like little toddlers that never grows up. They have good days and bad days like you and I. But all they can do to show is by biting or screaming. They need to be taught not to yes but occasionally it still happens. Willie and Lola both are kinda going through hormones right now, both have nipped me and draw blood. I turn around and told them no and calm them down when my thumbs are bleeding. That's the type of sacrifice you must make and if you can't deal with it then birds aren't for you!

I feel sorry for your bird:(. Please do what's best for him. Not everyone is good at bird ownership and that's ok. Please find him a suitable home. You will have a ton of ups and downs and if one bite brings you to the point where you publicly voice what you did, then bird ownership is not for you.

You look young in your picture, I don't know how old your Amazon is but he has the potential to grow old with you. :D Just back up and take things slow. Listen to the people here they will help, ask questions but do some research on your own as well that will show people as well as yourself that you are committed to this labor of love! When I read your post about his toes and you wondering if they would grow back it was a red flag to me that you had done very little research about parrots and was possibly in over your head.
Now is the time to EARN his trust, I can tell you once you work hard with a bird like this and earn his trust it is all the sweeter when it happens. Amazon's have very long lifespans don't rush things and keep that boy off your shoulder!

I can't think of a single parrot owner who doesn't sometimes get upset at their bird for being aggressive, loud, irritating or in some way unpleasant. The key is understanding what is driving the bad behavior and how to react appropriately. Parrots are like toddlers with big beaks, who never ever grow up. They have the mental capacity of a 2-3 year old CHILD, and if you've ever dealt with a child of that age, you know they have tantrums, act out, sometimes have trouble communicating their needs, don't always understand right from wrong and NEED the support and guidance of an understanding adult who loves them unconditionally. If you aren't ready for that level of responsibility, understanding and commitment, you aren't ready for a large parrot.

Hi I'm a new owner so hopefully it won't happen again and now I know how to controll my anger also I now realise that it was my fault not rios

Can I ask how old you are? How long have you had Rio? Is there someone with more experience, a breeder or a good pet shop that you could have someone mentor/help you in a more hands on way?
