Hi guys

My 4yo female Eclectus bit my 5yo male Alexandrine and now the Alex is limping and cant put any weight on his sore foot.

There is no blood but he is obviously in pain when he tries to walk on it.

Has anyone had this happen before? I'm just wanting to know if I should give it a couple days and see if it improves or if its more serious and I should go to the avian vet...

Thanks!

A difficult question without seeing the injury. Despite the lack of blood, there may be internal tissue damage or perhaps a broken bone. If in doubt it is always better to see an avian vet or at least triage by phone. Check for condition in the morning and be observant for swelling or other negative signs such as lethargy or depressed appetite.

much as Scott said.

Under injury I operate what I have been told whenever I've injured myself. Wait until morning, if pain persists go to the doctor or vet in this case. Often bad bruise can hurt for a couple hours, also you'd be amazed at how a parrot will fake an injury for more attention. Remember a story about someone who caught a parrots foot on the cage door, gave them fuss, later in the day went back in and saw the parrot forgot which foot hurt so was acting like the wrong foot was injured
