Well, its been a long week for us all here without her. I am sure its been a long one for her too ! She is not a happy birdy at the moment but i hope that changes when she gets back home. When i seen her on Sunday she bite me for the first time ever and I cried :( , not really cause it hurt, it broke my heart cause she has nevver ever even offered to bite me. Then she went back her little hospital cage and sat there and wouldnt come out. She was mad at me ! But she did give me a kiss good bye. I'm sure its because she is sick, and just had surgery and is really not sure what to make of being left at this place. I got lots of toys to take to her today for the car ride home. ( 2 hours ) We will also be meeting with the doctors today, and also the behavoural specialest aswell. They think Sophie could be a tade a on the spoiled side :/ ????? i cant see that LOL I will take Pics and post them when i get home. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.:white1:

No one here would ever have a spoiled bird.,,, where ever would they get such a silly notion... I am so happy shes coming home today. ,,, little love and spoiling at home will do her well. :)

What did she have surgery for? Poor baby. I'm sure lots of toys and treats will speed up her recovery though! I think that is such an amazing opportunity to get to talk with a behaviorist:11: I would be hanging on to his/her every word. Best of luck with Sophie. I'm expecting we'll bee seeing pictures later?

I am so happy Sophie is finally coming home! I bet she will be back to the sweet, loving girl she is in no time, once this is over with:)

I'm glad she is doing alright! I'm not surprised she is a little grumpy right now and bit you.. I would be too. I agree though I'm not sure where they got the idea that one of the birds on this forum could be a little too spoiled....:54:

Well after a very long day for everyone we are on our way home !!! Sophie is doing well after having the tumor removed from her neck area. She is coming home on 3 different meds and a new diet which includes yogurt everyday. The operation and treatment has destroyed ALL of the bacteria in Sophie's body so I need to rebuild that for her. She also has a bolted tummy from massive amounts of gas, so they are keeping a very close eye on her for that to reduce ... The behavior doctor said we are not changing anything right now with her because she needs to recover so we will work with her plucking later if she is still doing it when she is better. She may have been plucking cause she was sick . She goes back every week for the next two to three months for a check up and X-rays once a month .

The next young kid that comes up to me and says ohhh I want a bird so bad ! I going to show there parents my vet bills ... That should work ! Lolol.

So its been a few hours, was she happy to be home? Hoping she did not nip again!

I agree with your thought the plucking may have been from her feeling sick, they try to tell us in their own way something is wrong. I am so glad she's home!!

Vet bills are a bit of a wake up call! Big hugs to both of you and hope she makes a speedy recovery and is back to her spoiled self in no time :)

She is doing Great this morning ... Last night she was sleepy ! she wanted to go right to bed when we came home and she had to take meds first and stuff. Once that was over. She slept all night. She hasnt nipped again, which i am so happy about :) She is eating alittle but i think her little throught is still sore so im going to make her some rice and pasta, see if that is easyer then seed and pellets. She wants Baby food but i was told that is a last option.

Know to try and get her to eat yogart ! she loves yogart cranberry and stuff so i thought oh she will love just plan yogart but she took that bowl and flipped it upside down on me LOL So i guess that was her way of say " GROSS" but she has to eat it :( for her recovery stage cause hse has NO bad bacterica left in her body and she needs to build some up. Im going to try and rub her vegs in yogart see if i can sneak it in that way OR trick her and put that yogart in a baby syringe and feed it to her that way. guess we will see what works.

So glad that Sophie is getting back to normal! I am picturing you with the yogurt dumped on you:) Guess that was a not so subtle hint.

Try mashing up veggies she likes... sweet potatoes are usually a hit with most birds. Cook them entirely so you can make mashed taters and put the yogurt in those, sneak them into her :)

I would not say baby food is a last resort, you can mix them in with cooked pasta or rice.

Hope she is doing great tonight!!
