Soon to be a momma of a Red Sun Conure!

Hello everyone!

I'm excited to be here I have purchased a fabulous red sun conure and am waiting for him to be weaned before taking him home (he turned 11 weeks old- stubborn weaner!). I've had finches, parakeets and diamond back doves in the past and am now looking forward to moving on up into the parrot world. I discovered that I can research till my eyes pop out about different birds, but the only way to really know is to visit various breeders & shops and see for yourself. Every bird is unique and when I met "the one" I would know. So when I met this little sun, I fell in love <3
Of course, he has to be twice as expensive due to his coloring, (which has NOTHING to do with why I picked him), but he stole my heart and since he'll be around for the next 20-30 years, I see it as a good investment! So I'm heading off to the other boards to post all my questions. Nice to meet everyone!!!!

Welcome! Those red factor Suns are gorgeous! Congratulations.

Like you said, you can read and read til your eyes pop out... but will only get a real idea with firsthand experience . This forum is a great place to learn too. I think you'll do just fine with parrots.
I also started my interest in birds with finches, then got parrots. Had parrots for years, but am fairly new to budgies. I'm in trouble now that I've discovered them though! I'd love more budgies lol.

I looked at it and said, "Wow, that's a big cage for a sun conure." My hubby looked at me and said, "I know what you're thinking already. You're going to have to get another one". LOL After all these years, maybe he does know me after all

The cage is nice! Fun playtop. Another member just got the same one for a conure. It's not too big, remember as you add perches, toys, swing, etc. the interior space can get filled up quite quickly. Also I believe conures are an active species and will use every inch.

No, actually that's the size cage I had py in... and those playtops are fantastic! That's a really nice cage.

Can't wait to see pics! That's about the size cage that my sun is in...but his doesn't have the play top. I wish it did because he is one that would definitely love to have it!

Hi! I just joined, too. I saw your post and have to say I've always wanted a Sun Conure! I am really happy for you! I looked at the Amazon site's cage & oh, am I jealous!! I want a couple of those....gotta break it to hubby....what a good price, too! Have fun with your new baby & take some pics. I have to get some pics posted, too.
