Thank you for posting those pics. I'm just in awe of his beauty. Blue is my favorite color so whenever I see pic of a Hyacinth, my jaw just drops. Ichabod is truly magnificent.
Thank you everyone for the kind words. In regards to one's comment about a car you are absolutely right. he was not 16k but he certainly was expensive. I'm not to say I'll never get a second macaw but my initial intentions were that this is going to be for life and a one time decision. I always wanted a hyacinth and took a bit of convincing of my wife to understand all the initial costs. It's what I always wanted and figured I'd just do it right the first and more than likely, only time. Not cause they're rare, not for bragging rights, but because my long term research told me they would be my best chance at a great companion (although how it's raised is more important than specie by far) as well as friendly etc. Some websites even said they are quieter which again will have to do with the individual birds personality but I did get lucky. He gets cranky and can let out a squawk but he is very mellow in those aspects for the most part. I can say he is definitely one of my absolute best friends and he makes a great listener when you want to just vent a little to someone and get something off your chest
