I am so sorry.
My first bird (who was my own, not a family bird) came to me in similar circumstances. After over a decade, the owner's wife developed terrible asthma. My husband now has severe asthma (over 25 ICU stays, shocked once, died once) and I had to rehome my 4 cats when I moved in. It was devastating.
Your health ultimately comes first. I know that doesn't make it any easier. It sucks all around [emoji45]
