I have been on this forum a while and try to stay regular, but after this ridiculously hard semester I had a little bit of a falling out. But that got me thinking, are there any other college goers on here? Figure this could be a thread where we could talk about what we are planning to do, discuss classes, or just vent/talk about school in general! Maybe it's a stupid idea, I dunno... Was just curious! :D

I'm currently a Math/Science major at a community college and am going to be transferring to a University by next fall as a Biology major (after getting my Associates Degree in the current major). I can't wait until I'm done, but I've got suuuch a long way to go still! I'm not even sure what I'm even going to do with the degree yet, lol. Something with animals for sure, just not sure what.

So, what are your plans? What classes are you/will you be taking?

i also go to a community college as well and am doing logistics management and ive switched my major so many times ive gone from IT to logistics to Criminal justice and back to Logistics i feel ya on the falling out part ive thought about taking like a semester break but my parents wont let me so my parents are kinda hurting me cause im not motivated enough to go to school right now also my priorities arent all there. i think the reason is i take things for granted and that i dont realize that i need a college degree in order to make on my own.

Yeah, I here ya! I unfortunately have no choice than to be full time, or I'd be going part time. I have to be full time to stay on my dad's insurance until I'm 25. Especially right now when I'm only really taking 2 classes a semester anyway that matter... The other two classes are just "whatever/bs" classes just to fulfill my full time requirement until I get to the university. I've been at this campus so long I have all of my requirements except my science/math ones!

Just try to think that in just a few years it could all be done with though, and you can have your degree and your career! Maybe that will motivate you. I never really had that issue myself as I've always like school, but I know it's hard for some people (the motivation part, not necessarily the material). But I would sort of advise against taking a break, as I have heard stories from sooo many people that once they decided to take a break, they just never went back. So if you really want the degree, I would honestly just stick with it! :) But if it's really not what you want, I don't think it's right for parents to force it on their kids. My mom is forcing my brother to go, and honestly, he really resents her for it.

Can I ask what a Logistics major is/does? I'm not very familiar with those sorts of fields.

logistics is basically like a middle man for shipping anything and everything depending on the company what they do is they find a carrier that will take supplies from one place to another. that is the easiest way of putting it lol but right now i work at Fedex and would like to become a manager there

Cool, I've never heard of that before. :)

So, does becoming a manager at Fedex require a degree? Is that more or less what the logistics degree would be for? Manager is an awesome thing to shoot for! Not sure if I would do well under that sort of pressure though, lol.

Hey guys- I go to a University in Florida and I'm majoring in elementary education. This is like my 5th year at school as I keep changing majors lol! I was a micro/molecular biology major for two years but realized I hate it with a passion so switched out! I had a pretty easy semester for the Fall but I know Spring is going to be a killer.

It's funny that you posted this GreenCheek. I was contemplating earlier this week about venting on here about finals haha. I just got home for winter break. I am a junior at Eckerd College. My major is marine science, biology track.

My school allows pets but it would be hard to bring my fids down from CT so they stay at home with the parents. I miss them so much when I am at school. If my friends and I go to Busch Gardens I always play with the lorikeets at the Lory Landing to get my "bird fix" and my friends always have to drag me out of there lol.

I'm a sophomore at a local community college. I'm pretty undecided about my major. I'm going to get my early childhood certificate & go from there. But I know I want to work with birds somehow so I am clearly undecided :D

Hey this is Kat. I am bogo1 's kid. She told me about your thread so I joined the forum to say hi. I am studying sociology. I am going to a new school next year cause I got a full ride and the dorm would let me bring a small bird. I want to take Gem if mom will let me. But she'll only be able to stay part of the time because I have to travel with the team. I agree about taking a break . A lot quit then. But you may need it really bad and then you might be better off doing it and come back revved.

yes greencheek you do need a degree to become a manager at FedEx and thats why im going for logistics management since its kinda the closest thing i mean i could just do a regular gen ed degree but since logistics is more concentrated to what im wanting to do it will help in the long run. also with the pressure i kinda thrive under pressure. and even though im not a team leader or ramp agent or manager im still am under pressure just as a regular worker so im use to it but im no where under the pressure that managers, team leaders and ramp agents are under.

Cool! :) I have considered teaching before, I just don't know if I could handle the demon kids though, lol. :p What subject do you think you'd like to teach? :)

Oh, I here ya! Finals were AWFUL! Figures that on finals week, I had my two hardest finals (calculus and chemistry), one on Monday and one on Tuesday. I had to study for them back to back. It sucked, and I don't think I would have done as poorly on them if I had more time to study... :( Brought my calculus grade down to a C, not sure about the Chemistry one yet though.

Cool major! :) So, will you be doing research do you think once you get the degree? Marine biology is pretty awesome because they are STILL discovering hundreds of new species the deeper and deeper in the sea that they are going. Alien looking things too, lol.

Sorry that you can't take your fids with you. :(

That's cool! :) So, is that to like work at a preschool? If so, maybe you can take one of your birds to the preschool during the day and let the kids see and learn about birds? Kinda mix the two?

I am going to a new school next year cause I got a full ride and the dorm would let me bring a small bird. I want to take Gem if mom will let me. But she'll only be able to stay part of the time because I have to travel with the team. I agree about taking a break . A lot quit then. Hello Kat! Nice to see you here! What do you think you'll end up doing with your sociology degree? And I hope you can take your baby Gem with you! :)

Hi Mike! Cool major! :) How much longer do you have to go?

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Sounds good though! It may take a while, but it'll be worth it! And congrats on the "step up" training! :D

Of:42:Hello Kat! Nice to see you here! What do you think you'll end up doing with your sociology degree? And I hope you can take your baby Gem with you!

Hi back. I may want to actually become a social worker but right now I want to do more like what my mom does but from the perspective of social justice and social psychology than from the medical side like she does. But I think that I will end up working with refugees too but like on the prevention side. She works to improve conditions in camps and to get people into permanent resettlement and I could do that without being an infectious disease spe******t like her. It is better to prevent that from starting up anyhow. So I will do sociology for undergraduate and then masters in public health I think. Yeah I want to take Gem cause Merry is just too old for it to be good for him.But I am afraid Sam will be lonely for Gem. Plus I will have to see if a dorm is a good place for Gem. I don't think they allow smoking and stuff like that but I guess I will wait and see.

I am interested in what every one else wrote. We have a lot of different plans, yes?

I think maybe it's because of spamming reasons? The middle of "special-ist" is "c-i-a-l-i-s" and I think that is a drug. So maybe that is why? I'm not sure, but if you just put that (c-i-a-l-i-s without the hyphens), it'll star it out as well.

And wow, it sounds like you've really got everything sorted out! :) I wish I had a plan like that. I know I want a Biology degree, I just have no idea what I'm going to do with it.

I do hope you can end up taking Gem with you, but I am unfamiliar with dorms so I'm not sure. I know they are really tiny, so his cage may not even fit! :p And about the smoking, I'm not sure. It's illegal in Maryland to smoke inside of any indoor space besides your own house, so you'd be fine here! lol. You're not even allowed to smoke in bars here anymore.
