Snuggle thing made of fabric

So, Petey came with this habit of going to sleep with a piece of soft fabric hanging next to him - a snuggle "buddy". I have seen him chew on it though and what looked like feeding it. It doesn't look like a healthy habit. I removed the fabric.
Do those kind of things make birds hormonal and territorial? Any thoughts?
Remi has never had one of those and I do not really like them anyway.
 
Yes those snuggle things are quite unnecessary and can cause all sorts of nasty issues such as hormonal/territorial aggression as well as fibres getting stuck in the intestines causing blockage of the digestive tract. You were very wise to remove it!
