Small cut on foot

I know there is probable a thread with an answer to my question, but I didn't find it. I noticed a small cut on my macs foot. I assume it is from today, so after I can the cut is there anything else I should put on? I have seen kits with antibiotic ointment, should I apply some? Or just keep any eye on the cut to make sure it doesn't get infected.
If ointment is called for is there any specific brand?

For little scrapes I've always used neosporin cream (not ointment) with success. If he's not picking it and it looks clotted/scabbed you might just want to leave it alone. You can also use Aloe Vera gel...preferably fresh -cut leaf goo. Aloe soothes, as well as neosporin.

Thanks, bleeding is stopped not sure when he did it. Now I need to figure out what he cut it on so he doesn't do it again.
