Georigie, a very maniacal ball of fluff.
Babii (baby), The cuddle sponge
So, I hope I'm over reacting but Babii has been shaking slightly when she starts to fall asleep. Not her whole body, just a little chest quiver. I know she's not cold, the temp is the same through the house and Georgie, who's got major follicle damage and is half bald, has never done this. She was JUST at the vet and he didn't find anything wrong from the check up. I feel a bit silly, she has no other symptoms of anything being wrong, there's just something about her that makes me obsessively over protective.

It started after hubby left for work tonight, could it be she's worried he won't come back, or should I be waiting at the vet's front door when they open? :(

Awwww <3 Babii is gorgeous!

Cal shook while falling asleep for about half a week when we got her. She'd been vet checked and was otherwise healthy so I put it down to her being nervous of her new surroundings so although she was sleeping, she was on alert - if that makes sense?

I know what's it's like to worry about an arrival and yours must be 100 fold to that but you're coping brilliantly. It's inspirational.

Thank you SOOOO much!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel like a total spazz XD. I wasn't even half as bad with Georgie, but then he's always had this total "I'm invincible" attitude while Babii seems so innocent and, well, like a baby lol!!!!

LOL Don't worry, I was awful with Cal, she was so small and lickle and everything I knew about birds (quite a bit when you add it up over the years) went straight out of my head and into a book marked: "Duhh....I dunno!"

I honestly think it's our love, awe and sheer bloody panic of doing something wrong that makes us this way in the beginning!!!

Hie-hie, sorry for laughing CrypticDelirium but your post just reminded me that I am not the only 'crazy' one.:D Heck, if our parrots will just start behaving like the book says, but, NOOOO, they keep on shaking at the wrong times, scratching funny places, move strangely etc. How on earth are we suppose to stay sane through all of this!

If your instinct is to be obsessively protective over Babii then you should listen to yourself. Some fids are just prone to accidents and needs ALL the protection we can give. Or, maybe we are just obsessively overprotective - at least have comfort that you are not alone.:D

HEHE Wildheart.

I think we all think they're going to keel over if the wind changes at times.....they're so great at making us panic!

All pets are the same. Moo my rabbit who's nearly 8 loves to lie with her eyes rolled back and no visible breathing.

Panic..? Yep, daily!

Wow, another paranoid parrant! You are in good company. I recently tried to google for info on what ambient air temp was too low for me to be letting Gem and Sam have their daily outside bath in a glass pie plate. Couldn't find an exact answer...go figure!

She is a cute bird. I suspect the pre-night shiver will ease as she settles more. Or... it will bother you less as you settle more. All kidding aside, your alertness is a great asset to you and your baby.

If we didn't worry or wonder we wouldn't be good parronts? I am sure Babii is fine. She is settling in and is just showing a little stress. You might try covering just half of her cage at night to help her feel more secure.
On that note, if she starts to shiver excessively, fluff her feathers and seem inactive you would want to have her checked by a vet.

I agree with greycloud, it sounds normal but if the symptons as she descibes appear please get her checked, if you have central air you might check to see if any of the vents might be blowing air thats reaching her, it doesn't take much :)

Thanks, it feels good knowing I'm not crazy, well, at least not alone in it anyways lol. She's seemed absolutely fine today, been keeping a good eye on her through! I'd stick her under a microscope and keep her in a bubble if I could!
I double checked the double checks, and she's definitely okay otherwise, no drafts and she's definitely active and eating up a storm of the harrisons, which is too awesome.
There really is no way to stay sane through it is there, I'm waiting for the nice people with the white coats to haul me off! XD
