They need more sleep than we do. But they don't need it all in one 'chunk' like we do.
I think most parrots sleep quite well through the night and rarely disturb their sleeping owners. When I'm getting up for work in the morning Auggie doesn't make a sound until after my alarm goes off and I'm already moving around a bit. Though if I try to sleep in on a day off he'll usually wake me up. Auggie also gets plenty of time to nap while I'm away at work. He'd surely prefer to be out and about with me, but they do actually need SOME quite time during the day to sleep as well. I've heard that they need 12 hours of sleep throughout the day but I don't know if there is anything magical about that number ... or whether someone just made it up.
