Do any of you CAG owners have a “shredder” parrot?
For the last 5 weeks, ou CAG spends plenty of time on the floor of his cage shredding away the newspaper liner. And as soon as we place some new sheets in, he comes down and begins shredding and scratching the floor like a chicken!
Creating nest material? Anything to do with him being more hormonal these days?

Definitely nesting behaviour! Do you have a grate on top with a tray below in your cage? If so, definitely remove the paper on bis grate. Providing nesting material during this time of year means more hormonal birds (sometimes of course. Some birds have no problem with it). Espresso has been b-lining it to any dark place and chicken scratching these days...silly little pidgeon bird...

It’s simply a draw-out metal tray which I line with newpaper sheets for easy clean up. It seems our CAG is hormonal nearly all the time. I could try removing the newspaper to see what that will do? But then again, I’ll probably have to remove his bell too as he’s always trying to feed it. Those CAGs! :)

Deeeeefinitely remove the bell. I had the same exact problem last year! I wouldn't worry about the newspaper if you don't have a grate over it a little nesting is way better than a hard to clean cage!
