I think Silus is starting to Molt! He's my first Parrot so I have never been through this part before. Can anyone tell me by looking at these feathers that I just found?

Well, those feathers don't look chewed, so it's definitely possible. Both my birds are molting, as are many on the board. You should also be seeing many small downy feathers floating around being replaced by pin feathers on the bird.

Yes I see alot of Downy feathers around. Silus is almost 6 months old so wasn't sure when they start Molting. Paranoid of him plucking his feathers. Nervous new Mommy I guess. Thank you

Both my birds are also 6 months old, and they are definitely molting. So yours is probably molting too. :) I would worry if the feathers looked chewed or there was blood or a bald spot.

I am too am a nervous mommy. Oh and don't freak out if he starts to play with the feathers that have fallen out. I freaked the first time I saw Rio playing with her feathers and I had to ask. LOL

Thanks for this- I read it yesterday and today I look up and see Lola chewing on one of her feathers that she is holding- LOL. If I hadn't read this yesterday just snooping around the board, I would have been quite confused and worried she was plucking. Only had her 3 days so.... but looks like we are molting over here too :)

Is there anything I need to do for her, anything special when they are molting?

Give him baths. It will help to soften the pin feathers and irritate less.

Coming into the warmer weather, or for you the cooler weather, most birds tend to start their moult. Mine are going through theirs at the moment.

So is it usually twice a year then? About how long does it take for a big Too?

but she is really good with me in touching and stepping up upon my hand and giving me a kiss. !! Do you think it is moulting !! and what is best for her to support that ?
by the way i'm using Amino vet now but i will stop it from tomorrow cause been a week giving it to her. please help.
