My silly cat is at the vet again.
A few months ago he got himself into a fight and ended up with a puncture wound on his left hip that absessed. So off we go for round one. I think they just bled it out, and gave us a dose of antibiotics.
A week later it was back
So off we go again. This time they insert a drain for a few days, and gave us more antibiotics. It went away.
Then it came back.
But we could only just feel it and were due to go away for the Christmas break. (boxing day - yesterday) Mum had the birds at her house, and was in daily to feed and play with the cat. Then Mum broke her foot. The only day she didn't come was the day before we were due back.
We got home yesterday, and there is an open wound coin size (We all have different coins so I wont try and guess which one where) where the abcess used to be. It took me a good 30mins to find a Vet open on a Sunday, but it turns out that the one just down the road from us was. So in we went.
This Vet decided the approach of the other vet obviously wasnt working. He took the cat into surgery as soon as we left, and went further to remove all the infected tissue. Hes on IV antibiotics while there, and a strong set at home. He'll also be tested for feline HIV which is becoming increasingly more popular in this country. I am not going to think about that last possibility yet as I'll get to wound up about it, may as well wait and see what the test results are. The Vet also went to the effort of ringing us to fill us in on the surgery, which we haven't had before.
All and all the vet we went to was outstanding and all of our animals will be transfered there. Womble will come home today bucket headed, but hopefully alot my healthy and without the issue of the reoccuring abcess
