He's so silly. Not sure why he's responding like that though lol

You gotta love sunnies, they're just the best.

Yours has a LOT of yellow, mine has a lot of orange.

D'aww...

If you take it a step beyond, you can get him to give kisses on command I bet ! :)

I taught my GCC Kermit to give kisses. It's adorable. If she's in the right mood, if I say 'kisses', she'll kiss her beak on my cheek and make a cute kissy sound effect. I tell her thank you. If she's in a VERY good mood, she'll tell ME 'kisses' (in the best she can... its barely distinguishable, tbh), I ask 'kisses' back, she'll give me a kiss with a cute sound affect, then tell me 'thank you'.

I didn't go out of my way to teach her this. Just repeating it enough times and making it fun was enough. So if you are so inspired, you could make a very cute trick out of it :)

Skittles makes "kissy noises". I didn't teach him that, the store clerk where I got him at did. She used to walk around the store with him on her shoulder. She potty trained him and taught him to make 'kissy noises'.

Skittles will give me kisses if I make the kissy noise. I remember telling this to a friend of mine and she's like "aren't you afraid he'll bite your lip off?". lol

yea I noticed that too! Do sunnies have different "variations" so to speak? I mean, of course every bird will be unique but I wonder if a sunnie is just a sunnie or if there's named variations. does that make sense what I'm asking?

He actually came to me knowing how to give kisses. He reaches out and kinda sticks his tongue out lol. He doesn't, however, make kissy noises. I actually think the video I shared I did hear him make the sound a little bit, that's actually why I started making the much louder kissy noises to try and encourage him to make it too... then he started jerking his head weird afterwards so I had to get it on video. He does the head jerk thing a lot. It's almost like a dance move?

He did this head sway thing puffed up for hours last night. He did it while perched up on their stand, and whenever I held him. I've never seen him doing this on his own for so long. I can only think he must like what was on TV or something lol

oh really? I think its cute and she isn't actually grumpy.

Elvis can however mimic my garage doors opening and closing. He only does it when he knows I'm in the room, and that gets annoying really quickly.

Id love to see that in a video! Any chance you can get a good vid?

I can't, I've fostered out my birds. I can however check to see if I still a video of him doing it.

When I had Peaches, my cockatiel, she would "hiss" more than anything else, but she never hissed at Skittles. She never reacted at all to him and I think he didn't like that cause he would attack her if she was out of her cage.

I lucked out in having her with Skittles, cause she was a "cagebody" and for whatever reason really liked being in her cage a lot. I'd take her out for a half hour or so and time and again she'd get tired of being out and go back in her cage and play with her favorite toy (which she raised hell when I took it out to clean it).lol.

As for your question about sun variations- I do know of two- there are the 'red factor' sunnies which no offense to anyone, I don't think are as pretty- they are just a real deep red. There are also the sunday conures which are a breed combo of a sun and jenday if I'm not mistaken.

But I think that just like with many other species, the colors just vary. Some have more yellow, some have more green and some have more orange. Its just how it is, I think.

It looks to me like he's mirroring your head/eye behavior after the kiss.

@yumgrinder

About variations- maybe it's just me, and I'm by no means a professional anything- but your sunnie looks a lot more like a jenday to me because of all the yellow and the gradient around the eyes.
