Was reading another post on this and it got me wondering if it's common for a bird to perform this behavior with more than one care taker? I ask because my Pionus will do this to both myself and the signifigant other. At times he prefers me while other times he does not, and depending on the mood he's in he will do the vigorous head bobbing and regurgitation for that person.

I was always under the assumption that a bird only had one "special" person, but not the case with Tate...

Any insight or thoughts?

In my experience a parrot will try and feed anybody he/she is very VERY fond of. My 14 year old YN Hunter regularly does the "gurgies" for me, hubby and both my sons. Sometimes she's starting her lovin' on me, then my son comes home, picks her up, and after a few moments she's in the mood to let him try some of her previously eaten food. :54:

We try not to let her do it so much, because she tends to get carried away with it.

My Niko (B&G) ONLY does it with me, and knock on wood, neither Sam nor Ripley have started doing it just yet as they are quite young (1 & 2). :)

Thanks Wendy! Good to know... was hoping Tate wasn't a...ugh how should I word this...let's just say "loose" little guy giving it away to just anyone!

Hahaha.

Merlin only spews up for me, but makes the motions for Andrew.
Charlie makes the motions for both me and Andrew.

I don't enjoy being spewed on, it's not nice. :p

I also have a couple of hen napes that try an allo feed several favorite peoples. They just need to belong and are looking for acceptance. They just want to be part of the flock. Perfectly normal.

Frankie tried to feed my mom after she got to know her for about 5 minutes. I guess she really liked her. She tries to feed me constantly (I was really referring to Frankie, but my mom tries the same thing lol).

Mine tries to feed me a lot, but she never let's it leave her beak. She just brings up chunks and chews them up and swallows them back down, so I allow it. At least her food is chewed up a little better :) like a cow with cud! Lol!

I thought my YN was just annoyed by my lovebird on his cage...until he fed him! Birdfriends!

One macaw at work will regurge for almost any man who walks in the store and the occasional woman. She has no disgretion, she adores men. Lol
