49B4983F-1CA8-4094-B78E-2BCF8375F8FA.jpegthis is Peep, he is my absolute world. lately i’ve noticed he has been regurgitating or vomiting mucus, but nothing is coming out. His stomach is also making gurgling noises and his poop has bubbles in it. He sounds congested and has been sneezing more than normally. Can birds have allergies? or is this a problem where he needs to see a vet? If so, does anyone know what’s going on?

Yes, he needs to go to the vet. All the things you’ve noticed are concerning. Birds shouldn’t be doing ANY of them. Please take your cute little guy in ASAP.

Birds can have allergies, but not often. It’s more likely that he is sick and you’re reporting multi systemic problems.

I agree with @HeatherG, your little one should see a vet with these symptoms, and as soon as is practicable since birds are, unfortunately, very good at hiding illness until they can no longer do so. Bird physiology is very different to mammals so it's important to see an avian specialist too, rather than just a regular dog and cat vet. I'm not sure where in the world you are located, but the following list should help you to find an avian vet near you if you are not already familiar with one...

Wishing your sweet little Peep all the very best, please let us know how you get on 🙏

hey! thank you so much for the intel. last month Peep was sick (and has the same symptoms) so we took him to an avian vet and they gave us an enrofloxacin oral solution, which we still have some left over after he got better.

Did you give then enrofloxacin for the entire length of time the vet recommended? If you stopped the meds early his infection may have come back.

Also enrofloxacin is a more general antibiotic. Some other antibiotics could be used to target his infection if enrofloxacin isn’t working.

so sorry for the later reply. Yes we gave him the prescribed medication and length, he did eventually feel better, but then it came back unfortunately. he is much better and is enjoying his apple treat 🤗
