My African Cape Green :green2: has learnt to mimic the neighbours phone ringtone. (Landline, not cell) My Parrot now sits and "ring-ring-rings" for h-o-u-r-s (or so it feels)! Is anyone able to please, advise me as to how I can stop or help him to 'forget' the ringing. I have asked my neighbour to either change his phone or turn the volume down; both suggestions received some choice words. I need to address this issue before the complaints start rolling in.

One of my new 2s does the screeching door sound...more like a spring door opening and closing but without the slam. Drives me nuts. He does it all the time if he can't see me. The other night I toweled him...looked him in the eye and told him he needed to stop. I didn't hear it yesterday morning until I closed the door to go to church and I didn't hear it this morning. Honestly, I think they know they are doing things that bother us.

hey sweet66, welcome to the forum. is there a person he doesn't like? if so, send the "bad guy" around when he does the call you don't like. before long,if you're consistent, he'll realize that call only brings the "bad guyz". All it takes is a couple of days or weekend. be consistent, every time he does it, the "bad guy" needs to appear. They don't need to do anything other than stand by the cage for a couple of minutes.

I would but doubt my Boss will understand Why I have to take time off work....... then again she might............. Last excuse I gave her when I came in late was............... Air Force 1 had to make a emergency landing before bringing me home this morning. THAT is why I am late........ she told me to get in my office
Oh I once told her my cat had puppies............ My reasoning is..... IF you are going to tell a white lie........ make it good :)

Edit : Sorry that has nothing to do with helping you. :)

Henpecked's idea is a good one. If there isn't a 'bad guy' perhaps theres a bad hat or halloween mask that can 'come out' when the 'ringing' starts instead?

A neighbor of mine told me the story about his Grey that he had. Turns out, he'd be working in the yard, hear the phone, go to the house and nobody on the phone, nothing on caller ID and no voice mail. After a week or so of this happening daily he calls the phone company. The tech on the other line spent HOURS troubleshooting with him on the phone then, all of a sudden, while they were on the phone, the phone rings. The tech asked him "Sir, do you happen to have a bird?"

Until that day, the bird had never done it while he was in the house. He said he was SURE there was something wrong with his phone!

Can I get 2 volunteers to play 'pop up' when my big macs have a screaming match....please? :D

Me too! Me too! I'll happily be the other pop up!

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions, am going to try some of them out!

Oh, you could find another nice sound for him to mimic - for example a car horn or a rap song. :D

BB has learned SCOOBY DOOO at the top of his lungs. :( I leave cartoons on for him and the dogs during the day.

I'll trade you the phone ringing LOL
