Shower time

How did you go about introducing your parrot to shower time? In the shower, with you?

This is an easy question. You start out by taking the bird into the bathroom where you want him to shower. Just have him sit in that room for a while. Then have him in the bathroom with you while you are showering a few times. Let him hear how much fun you are having. After that sit him on a shower perch for a while with no water running to get used to the perch. After his is comfortable with all this run the shower slowly with the both of you inside the tub or enclosure. With all this exposure you should be good to go.

I sat Mr. Precious on the top of the shower door while I took a shower. After the 2nd or 3rd time he hung upside down by 1 claw trying to get in the water. I offered him my arm as a perch & I hold him & let the water bounce off of my arm so it doesn't hit him directly. He likes when it bounces off of me & cascades like rain on him. He opens both wings & moves this way & that to get the water everywhere. When he stretches towards the door I put him on top again & continue showering myself. He generally gets in & out at least 4 times while I'm showering. Somedays he just wants to soak up the steam & not get in at all. I make it his choice & never push the issue.
