Rio has been with us for 5 days now, he is still very nervous but will not try to get away when i come to the cage to talk to him. Is it to soon to start leaving the door of his cage open for him to come out as he has never had human contact or been out of his cage.

I think that he shold be confteble of coming up and dovh of you hand so that you are sure that it is not nessesary to catch hem

as said above, give him more time, if his had no contact then you have a longer time to get him so******ed, birds will preen each other in the wild, so get him to come to bars of the cage an head scratch, from there on, that way he will feel his safe, an eventually will want a better head rub etc an will be comfortable with your hands
