Should I or shouldn't I ?

I went into a pet store yesterday and was looking at the CAG babies.
That was my first mistake . The second was holding them. OMG.
I couldn't leave the store. My husband felt the same way , but he was
strong enough to be able to pry the bird from my hands , lolol.
I really , REALLY fell in love with one of them. OMG. :30::54:

There was also two baby Goffins that were absolutely adorable.
I almost feel guilty getting another bird that isnt a Goffin !! Idk...
I wanted a Macaw , a Hyacinth for ages . Once my relative's will is
finalized , I will be able to get one. And it should be soon, but the county she lived in is horrid for handling these things. I mean , the woman has been gone for almost 2 years already !!!! ( small vent there , sorry ) :17:
My husband said that if I did get a Grey , i should maybe put off getting
a Macaw for little while , which I totally agree .
I just don't know what I want to do....I dont want to make a rushed
decision either. If I have some typos here , I blame Poncho , he's
absolutely adorable , and one crazy kitten

We have a small farm here ,so we are "owned" by a lot, lolol.
We are both aware of the time and care these birds require And if we felt we couldnt
handle it , we wouldnt even be thinking about this.

Oh my Gosh! That's a hard one! I was originally wanting to adopt a macaw but having Amigo, decided on something smaller...even though a macaw would probably have been easier to acclimate to, than a U2.

You obviously love Yoshi, very much! Sounds like you have what it takes to bring another bird on board. I have a feeling, once you bring another bird in, you will know it was the right choice. I feel that way with Sassy...BTW, she got a good bill of health from the vet, just needs more variety in diet and a good bath! Oh, also,,,she got a major whack job, by the previous owners, on her wing clipping.

I say hold off for a hyacinth, but I'm addicted to macaws so that's just me. I personally want a green wing, hyacinth, and a severe. But I also always wanted a tag so don't listen to me.lol.

Do you know when she's next due a molt? Do you think you'll be keeping her clipped?

I'd say go for it if you really want it, I don't doubt your ability to look after another bird but would you feel comfortable having a macaw with so many too's+grey with the respiratory problems? Personally I prefer the cag/tag + cockatoo calls much nicer than a macaw, but hey ho

I have had both kinds of parrots ( Macaw and African Greys). I have found macaws to be more work and a lot louder, but then again you have a cockatoo so it might not matter to you. I found macaws to be BIG chewers and buying many toys was a must. I currently have a TAG and a CAG. The Greys are very independent and are able to amuse themselves quite easily. They are not loud screamers and have a wonderful personality, as well as they are awesome talkers and very smart (too smart actually). LOL
What ever you decide, I'm sure you will be happy. Don't
rush your decision and listen to your gut.

That's great news about Sassy . But very unfortunate about her wings
I'm guessing you will be letting her grow them again , right ?
Lots of TLC and frequent baths , Sassy will feel wonderful and look like her beautiful self again

Yes , I love my Yoshi to pieces . Has anyone ever felt guilty about considering
bringing home another bird ? Thats where I'm at right now , besides not being able to choose. It sounds like a awesome problem to have , but believed me,
its not. Not when you feel like this. Every time I held one of the Greys ,
the Goffins would beg for attention , or so it seemed to me....
Then I would think about Yoshi . And I would leave the store with a headache.

I know , that's another big consideration about Macaws , their respiratory issues.
And having the two TOOS , anybody with TOOS and air purifiers , know how often they have to change filters and dust. Even if you give them baths almost daily. I was thinking of keeping the Macaw in another room , away from the TOOS. But he/she would be in a room that is just as active as the one my other guys are in. And my husband brought up that if I did get a Grey , and later a Macaw , they could be roommates. ( not the same cage )

I know a few people that give all their birds personal time and attention and they are thriving and happy. I dont doubt my ability to do the same ,
but I just worry a lot. I worry if Yoshi will hate me afterwards , lol.
He tolerates Rosie and lets me play with her , but after awhile , I can tell he
thinks its about time I stop and play with him now , lolol.

I just have to stay out of those places !!!!!!

I'm definitely going to let Sassy's wings grow back. I don't know about her next molting time? Didn't know to ask that question.

I didn't feel guilty about considering another bird but once she was home, I did feel guilty when Amigo would come up to the window and see Sassy and I together!!

I'm just making sure that Amigo gets a lot of quality time with me outside, he seems good with it, now.

Yoshi will still know she's #1, you'll make sure of it!

Yes , the Macaws do have a louder conversation voice then any other bird, lol.
My TOOS arent really loud to me , or maybe I'm just used to them , lol.
Seriously though , I think I am lucky not to have huge screamers.
Yoshi does have is moments , but they are morning and evening , that's
it. Rosie isn't loud at all , she does have a few loud chirps you could say,
but that is the extent of it. Nothing compared to what I have heard when
around other TOOS . So , if I bring home a Macaw , I will put a end to
the peace I have now. , that's for sure , lolol.
But I expect it , you have too !! I mean , if your shocked about how
noisy they can be , you obviously haven't done your homework !!
It's just every time I spend time with Macaws , I am in awe of them.
I sometimes forget to breath I get so excited when I hold a Macaw , lolol.
To me , they are so very magical ! Their eyes and the way they look
back at you , it's like they look right through you !
They have always grabbed at my heart strings.
I has a picture of myself in Florida , I must have been four or five years old ,
holding a Blue n Gold on my shoulder . I will never forget how heavy that bird was , lolol. My parents wanted to take a picture and I could barely stay standing holding this bird , lolol. But what a sweet baby he was
My Mom said that she was holding him but he just wanted to come to me
and sit on my arm , lolol. He would climb down and walk over to me.

That's a hard decision. I have never had a Macaw but I have a Grey and she is so incredible! I am sure you will figure out what is best for you. Good luck deciding! Very exciting.

I think it depends on what you want in another bird. We have a Macaw and a CAG. They are total opposites. Our CAG has the personality of a cat, he wants to shred paper and phone books all day and not be bothered, unless HE wants attention. Our Macaw is a puppy, he constantly wants to be scratched and rubbed and cuddle. I don't know if they are all like that, but it's something to consider.
