Cairo the Ekkie!
[ame="https://youtu.be/1u8iz2FZgIY"]https://youtu.be/1u8iz2FZgIY[/ame]

I love how Cairo looks at me when I count him off, then when I say, "three," he immediately looks forward. On "go", I just wiggle my hand slightly, and he takes off!

He's used to free-flight training, which typically involves the owner tossing the bird into their air, but he just loves flying so much :) I also found out from his previous family that he used for fly for 5 minutes straight! :eek:

Now we're shaping our schedules around his morning flights, since he hates flying in the afternoon sun and it's often too crowded then as well.

Great video! He truly loves flying. Yup, he clearly waits for the signal to 'go.'
Thank you for sharing his joy of flying.

I'm so grateful for him every day. And I'm awed how much he trusts us and is bonded to us. Every time I count him off, I'm amazed at how clever and acutely intelligent he is, and every time he comes back to land, I feel honoured that we're flock/family.

I was joking with a friend that I wouldn't wake up this early in the morning for my partner or even myself, but I'm eagerly waking up so early in the mornings for Cairo because I don't want to disappoint him.

I'm no where about to free-fly him, but I'm happy that I can at least give him his joy of flying through a kite line (it's a Kevlar line to assuage my concerns a little). I find myself constantly looking back at his flight videos during the day. I'm so proud of him - we're so lucky to see him grow.

Just seeing this now, very nice. How long is the lead? He seemed to get a good distance.
Thanks for sharing. :smile049:

I actually bought 1500m of line in total, but we only use about 60m as he keeps within the span of the field. Once that upper portion of 60m wears out, I'll just snip it off to use the newer portion of the line. It's Kelvar, so we haven't had any wearing yet :p
