Parrots
Mojo the magnificent Maximillian Pionus; Cecil the clowny Senegal; and, Timothy the shy, fearful Parrotlet
:D:D:D When in Denver, I dropped into Creative Play Centers ... *pitter patter* goes my heart (and cha-ching cha-ching goes my VISA card!). LOL

Moj, Cec and Sailor each got two new toys (I was plumb out at home--even in the secret storage area!!!). I also got Moj a calcium block as he's been showing intrest in those.

I got about 3-4 cups of Roudybush (small) pellets to mix into their Harrisons to see if they have a preference (of course, Timothy won't get to partake in that as is is too big for his lil beak). I also got in-the-shell Almonds (Cecil's fave, totally!!!!!) and just to try out I got some in-the-shell Pinyon nuts (for Cec and Mojo)--so far they've been thrown out of the cage for my wiley Border Collie to snatch.

When I got home, the birds had not yet been cared for so I broke out all the goodies and fed them appropriately --WOWIE they really dug into the nuts I bought!! Yippie! LOL (Little things in life make me very, very happy!).

Anyway, had a grand time at Creative Playcenters. Saw the Toucan again and the black Too (cannot for the life of me remember the species name but they are endangered and sell for $20,000-$35,000 and are awesomely gorgeous! ... does ANYONE know the species name for this bird??). Also got to see a new rescue Blue and Gold Macaw named Rascal.) ... There was a little finch there that was ill and it really kept on my mind--hoping he got the care he needed).

You are most welcome ... I have drooled over those guys on several occasions (although never actually SEEN one).

I'd like a http://www.avianweb.com/galahcockatoos.html or a http://www.avianweb.com/goffinscockatoo.html but even more so a http://www.avianweb.com/moluccancockatoos.html

Then there are the macaws ...

dreamy dreamy dreamy

indigo ... i've seen (and met) all of your dreamy wish list ... i can guarantee that you would not be disappointed meeting a Palm Cockatoo -- they are, for lack of a better word, SURREAL. Picachoo was quite becoming, indeed. :)

I just see the "big guys" as being big cuddly teddy birds; and SMART (not that the little ones are not smart but yanno).

A well trained (including bite pressure trained) BIG MAC is the BEST PET (any animal included) anyone could ask for ... they are not for everyone, they are for people who know what it takes to handle, train and what the nutritional requirements are for one of these treasures. And you will be very well rewarded by one of these babies for all of your effort ...

Tex, I'm not trying to have a dumb brunette (ok ok ok!!!! salt and pepper) moment, but when you say "BIG MAC is the BEST PET" ... are you referring to your green-cheeked Conure?

Sorry, I'm lost ... (I'm completely convinced this is my fault, tho!!).

Indigo ... the Palm Cockatoo that I met (Picachoo) had a beak that was (ungroomed) about 5-6 inches ... OOOOOOOOchie. I admired him from a safe, but friendly distance.!!!

 No, I am not referring to my GCC - BUT he certainly does think that he is a BIG MAC ... No, when I refer to BIG MACS I am talking about big macaws ... Scarlet, B&Gs, Green-wings etc.

AAAAhhh, okie. (sorry, Tex, I'm operating on half my cylinders this evening!!!) ... :p

post note edit: told ya' it was my fault, eh??! LOL

Oooooooooo the Palm Too, I was lucky enough to meet one of these guys last year at our Bird World, they are just beautiful.

Oh yeah the Big Macs, yep they are great, would have to live further away from neighbours before I could get two of those tho' :( One day maybe?

Ooh, thats stunning, we have guys here that breed all the endangered and very costly parrots. My avian vet, he lives on a farm, has 2 pairs of those palm too's, but he also has a great variety of other birds, dont know what they are, because we just peeked through a private section and saw those toos.
