Hello again. Sorry if I'm spamming, just have so many questions!

So, I know how it works with fish and reptiles. A box, insulation, a heating pack, and delivery to my doorstep. Now, for me, shipping is not ideal, but since I want tobe a one bird home, I want to make sure I get what I want, even if it may not be local. However, I want the animal to be safe as well. So, what is in ot when shipping a bird?

My Hawkhead was shipped to me across the country. She arrived in a dog/cat carrier with a heavier mesh attached across the front to keep her beak in, and invading hands out. She had a big bowl of fresh veggies that had a high water content, and a dish of her regular food. There was also a perch attached inside the carrier for her to stand on, and papers on the bottom of the carrier. She's the only bird I have ever had shipped to me, so I'm not sure if this is the norm or not.

You are totally not spamming, ask away!

Was she shipped to your door, or did you have to pick her up somewhere? How much did shipping cost?

She was shipped on an airline and was picked up at the airport. I am in Canada and that's the only way birds can be shipped here, to my knowledge.
The cost for shipping in Canadian dollars was $125 or $150, I can't remember which.

That's standard.

And yes, you do have to go to the airport and pick them up.

I've had several shipped this way, and never had any problems. The youngest one was a female RS Eclectus. She was only 6 weeks when she came from TX to NJ - zero issues, other than that she was rather hungry, LOL.

Same here, no problems at all! I've done it several times too.
It's common practice, and experienced breeders know to make the crate safe and airline approved. It's very easy. Follow the flight tracking, and pick up at the designated time.

Raven popped out of the carrier, looked at me, and said 'ugh, I want a different owner' LOL, and he's still sort of like that with me!
